Need advice on buying a record player!

Now that I've been working and have a little dough to spend, I want to enrich my music listening experience with a sweet ass record player, but I really know very little about them (my only vinyls right now are the ones in the Ten Super Deluxe box). I know they make some now with a USB port so you can save music files to your comp. That's pretty cool to me, but more important is a level of sound quality that can't be delivered by CDs/mp3s and a vintage look. I'd prefer new to used but could probably be swayed either way.

Can anyone help me out with this, or at least let me know of somewhere to look that's not Amazon? Thanks for your help!

I picked up a Sony at Best Buy not long ago for around $150. It's not the best turntable in the world, but it sounds great and works well if you need to record via USB to your computer. It's a great turntable to start out on before upgrading to something more high end. Be careful though...vinyl is addictive. Before long you won't know where all your money went. ;)

Haha thanks for the advice. I didn't think of best buy as the kind of place to sell record players but I'll have to check it out. Also I think there's a store nearby that sells used vinyls so I'm hoping I can start a decent collection without breaking the bank too much

I was thinking about getting one too. I wanted to keep it under $100 and these are the two choices I'm down to:

    Audio Technica AT-LP60

    Sony PS-LX250H Automatic Belt-Drive

I saw the Technica for $70 on Amazon a few weeks ago but its been out of stock since then. Anyone have one of these?

If you don't want to break the bank, the Sony is a nice turntable

i have the one in my avatar. i'm sure it is a joke to a lot of folks. it rocks. the carrying case record players are hilarious. mine is covered in stickers and gowing. his name is "chompy" "chompy the record player" he eats circles and stickers. good chompy.

he was $130.00 maybe. it sounds nice. it is not powerful at all. it would be mass blast if i stuck it inside an ants' den or up someone ass. other than that it rocks for spinnin' a few pearl jam circles or an old grateful dead twisty

I SAID ONE GRATEFUL DEAD MERMAID INTREPITY PLEASE :lolno:

i have found out i enjoy the sratching
the one pearled circle is live
that pretty awesome when the crowds goes

I decided to go with the Audio Technica. I'll give a short review in a few weeks.

Also, THIS is the last record player I had (little fucker still works too  )
