Thoughts?

It's been a while since there's been a mayor not named Daley has ruled the city. Is this good or bad. I live on the east coast but lived in Chicago a while back. What do local Chi-town folks think of this?
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Well, he was an aide to Obama, and as an outsider (one who does not live in the city of Chicago nor the United States for that matter), it reminds me of the 'insider' tactics & core corruption that is carried in all politics.

This is the type of thing that really bothers me about politics...like the Clinton's moving to New York so Hillary could run for senate there.

except Rahm actually grew up in Chicago.

I actually don't like Rahm in many ways and hated him in Washington. but my thoughts are: 1. anything that keeps him out of the white house is fine with me, and 2. i think he'll actually do the city of chicago a lot of good. he's clearly always wanted this job--to be mayor, and i think he'll do it somewhat right. time will tell i guess.

Rham Emmanuel is FROM Chicago and kept a residence there the whole time, even while he was living part time in Washington to work for the president.

This is very different from the Clintons moving to a jurisdiction where Hillary could get easily elected. (that said, I love Hillary Clinton and think that America's biggest mistake ever was not making her president.)

Just because you were born somewhere and have a house doesn't mean shit to me. Working for the president in washington is part time work? ;)

I'll agree that it is not a great direct comparison, but it still bothers me.
