i keep waiting for that big sell off...but it's not come. thought it was starting this AM, but then it bounced back a bit. been a weird year so far. i did sell one small holding that i had been wanting to get rid of.
i'm wondering if we didn't get the sell off in may due to all the money that i keep hearing about sitting on the sidelines that is slowly making its way back into the market as people lose that fear that has kept them on the sidelines.
think i'm going to start looking for something new to buy.

I'm with you... Starting to really feel like 07 again... but apparently what do i know?
What's it at now? $1235 or something? Dropped $35 in a day?? ... With a continued relatively fast fall like this, the fall could stop abruptly, and the increase can happen just as fast. Gambling is scary. Have fun!

was up to 1800....and if you look at the price over the past 20 years...it rocketed up from mid hundreds at the begining of the financial mess to 1800 and is now crashing back down...currently in the low 1200's. i would NOT be shocked by 600....not one bit.
i wouldn't call gold or the stock market gambling....but if you want...you can...either way...it's not scary. i've got a nice chunk of money in the market and sleep great even with the wild swings over the last few weeks.

I absolutely think it's gambling (by definition), and scary, like all gambling for me, because I can't afford to lose any money.... Even just your first post in this thread scared the shit out of me.

Yeah, gambling can sometimes be a friendly wager. With the stock market, for the most part, you're investing in shares of a corporation that likely engages in at least one of the following practices:
pollutes the earth;
poisons our food supply;
exacerbates poor health conditions;
has absolutely no qualms whatsoever about nearly destroying the financial foundation of the nation;
has absolutely no qualms about mass layoffs following a single bad conference call/board meeting;
buys politicians so that it can continue to get away with its shit.
And I work in the middle of it all. Ain't I lucky? God bless America.
(Note: It's an incomplete list above, but I'm sure I got enough of these :roll: by now.)

I took some gains a few months ago, so naturally, I am kicking myself for not hanging-in there longer!
Being a habitual second-guesser sucks when you play the stock market!
Motley fool...god i hate them.
once i sell, i try to forget about the company.
i like bloomburg magazine, and the WSJ.
appears the market likes it...my portfolio does.

in fact, i may toss a few more dollars in this week.
Any guesses on gold's floor?......may buy some long term options, but it seems risky at the moment.
my buy target was 1250, but after this last week, i may need to drop that a little. i definatly want to buy some coins or bars.
can't eat that, you'd crack your teeth
