A question concerning needles

I'm big into vinyl right now, and I spin it fairly frequently. I'm not having any specific problems, but does anyone here have a clear idea of when a stylus should be replaced? Do I wait until it breaks? I've been using the same one since last spring. What are some of the telling sings that I need a new one?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Well i wouldn't play it till it breaks . lol

Not sure what you have . most needles are made of air craft aluminum . I would think you would start hearing sound loss ...

Some Needles or stylus take 100 of hours just to break in ..

    Just found this link :

rule of the thumb is to replace the turntable needle after every 250 hours of playing.

Keep your records clean and i would think they last awhile Or if your worried about it . just change it !!

Thanks a lot! I've looked all over the internet and I couldn't find any definite answer.
