Each one of the lines on your face they all tell a long story
Each tone of your eye in the shades that are so tightly closed
I see lovers and friends that all came and then went and left you
With the scars and bruises that survive in each wrinkle and fold

Pretty woman you look so tired
Pretty woman so cloaked in pain
Promise to hold on for tomorrow
‘Cuz down here two days are never the same…

Your children are gone; they’ve grown up, moved on and left you
You tried so hard to love them, but they ended up tortured souls
I know that you’re strong but can you exist here without them?
Find something worthwhile and don’t die within these cold walls

Pretty Woman you look so tired
Pretty woman so cloaked in pain
Promise to hold on for tomorrow
‘Cuz down here two days are never the same…

Momma, now they’re gone, who loves in their place?
The wine and the song and all the abuse you could take, (makes you shake)
Momma, why did you feel the need inside to take it (you took it all)
Did you feel so worthless and unloved out there in the world?
