But we have more fans. We have better fans. We need accomodations. We need a venue within walking distance. We deserve better.  :roll:SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:

not talking about the middle of the country factor..thats fine
fact is alpine and the surronding area can't handle the masses .especially with all the people traveling
and yes the NE is pj's 2nd home
But hasn't Alpine and thes urrounding area handled huge concert weekends before?
Phish packs the house every summer...
Dave Mathews does the same......
This will be just another weekend for Alpine.....
This a fine point, Speedy. Thousand of fans attend concerts hosted at AV every summer. Somehow, those fans make it work.0 -

Why don't you want it to be at Alpine? Is it because you don't want to travel, dont like the venue, don't want to wait in the parking lot after the show? etc....
Would you be happier if it was in Chicago ? Just curious....
any big city would be better
plus i personally dont like the venue...with all the lawn seats and parking nightmares
plus you have to rent cars on top of all the other expenses because its in the middle of nowhere
any available hotels will be miles and miles away
i would go on but the wisconsin girl will come after me again
and when it really comes down to it...ITS WISCONSIN????????????????????i post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......0 -
I'd love to see them come out and announce it somewhere else......that shit would be funny!!

So, by 'come after you' you mean point out the ignorant assumptions and negative spin you're putting on the topic, well then yeah.... Look the fuck out.

You could always split the cost of a rental with some other people. They aren't that expensive.
And I haven't looked for hotels but wouldn't there be some in East Troy? That's less than 5 miles from the venue.
But if you don't like the venue and that's a deal breaker then so be it. I have never been there so have no idea what a concert at Alpine would be like.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -

That would mean Neily was full of it since he's the one that started the rumor.

Let me assure you a Pearl Jam concert at Alpine will be wonderful, it was in '98 and at the Ice Bowl. They can handle the number of people, it's kind of what they do. And while my disdain for the GB Packers is extremely high, if they do this in Wisconsin, they might actually make a stop in Minnesota

Alpine Valley makes great sense, it can hold over 40000 people and it's in a general location where for most of us, it's not a killer drive. It seems thought out and I trust PJ's judgement That is very thoughtful. Besides I'm tired of driving to Boston, New York or Philly or Pittsburgh. Share the love, share the music, share hours of travelling. There are plenty of hotels in the area ranging from 10 to 15 miles away from the venue. Oh yeah, and Alpine Valley is a "historic venue" A pain to exit the parking lot but memories I will not forget.neilybabes86 wrote:FirstExit wrote:Alpine is a beautiful venue and Pearl Jam has neglected it for FAR too long.
In that time, the Northeast has been nothing but spoiled.
The people that truly WANT to be at Alpine Valley will be there. End of story.
my whole point is that once its announced the shit is gonna hit the fan when many people get stuck with lawn tickets and cant find hotel's and so on
and dont start with the camping nonsense ..most people would like a bed and shower
its fine for a few regular shows..but this so called "historic event" should be held in a location that makes better sense
..namely a place that can accomodate all of us that will be traveling

I'm sure you will agree that NY and Boston get the fair share of shows. So take your turn and travel like so many of us do to your neck of the woods. Alpine is a great venue and great shows from PJ have taken place there. Relax and enjoy the ride. I have nothing against fellow members or areas of our country...but come on man enough with NY and Boston. Grant Park is Beautiful as well.

Yes PJ, quit being dicks and play in this persons front yard. It isn't fair that you are playing in a spot in the middle of the country.
To the guy who said "PJ will come back home to the Northeast". What?
Isn't the group from Seattle? With ties to San Diego?
Is that in the NE?
Entitlement is a great word. I've suffered thru 5 weeks of rude, obnoxious, pushy people in Conn.
The cops, waiters, business owners are all cool. But the people are self richeous ass holes.
I guess you didn't get the memo...Boston is "Seattle East"

It sounds like most of the hotels near Alpine are already booked for the last weekend in August and Labor Day weekend. Looks like if and when this is officially announced I'll be staying very far away from the venue. Which kind of sucks but oh well.

This is my only concern...having to drive an hour to a hotel after the shows end. If it's any consolation it's a super easy drive to Milwaukee once you are out of the lot."There was a band playing in my head, and I felt like getting high"0

But that happens at pretty much any outdoor venue I have ever been to. It just happens when you are dealing with thousands of drunk morons."There was a band playing in my head, and I felt like getting high"0 -
All I know is that I'm sick of seeing Pearl Jam in basketball arena's because they sound like shit."There was a band playing in my head, and I felt like getting high"0
