  • I totally pledged a dollar for this. I think it's awesome. Cleveland has that FREE stamp, Chicago has their giant metal bean thing, Philly has a Rocky statue, and now we can have RoboCop.

I've already noticed a lot of people on their moral high horses saying that this money could be put to better use. But I say, "who cares?" NOT building a statue of RoboCop isn't going to solve anything. It's free publicity. Half of the money was donated by a San Francisco businessman, because he owns a company that bears the same name as the corporation in the movie. Besides, the people who started this already posted the following on the website, "We're currently discussing how to branch this project and fundraising into bigger and bigger things with a better and better impact on Detroit. Thank you, everybody! Wow."

Since they reached their goal so quickly, do you think we could double it up and get a matching ed-209 statue right next to it?

The GM Towers always remind me of the O.C.P. headquarters, especially in contrast to the rest of the city.

It's going to be in Corktown too, which is a pretty cool part of town. Lots of Irish bars and where old Tiger Stadium used to be.

Detroit is at the bottom of my list of favorite cities visited. Can't think of many behind it.

Hopefully, for them, they get it turned around. I do wish them well.

  • I just hope that the creation of a statue to Robocop in Detroit encourages the people of Astoria, Oregon to finally build a statue to Johnny 5.
