MMJ will be performing a Storytellers event on February 24th in NYC. I got my email to signup for a chance to get tickets. this would be friggin sweet. I think the only way to get a chance is to be on their email list. I didn't see it on their Facebook page.

you deleted your post, but here's my response that i was typing up before you deleted it.
thanks. because of your post, i now hate MMJ. in all seriousness, i don't think people like them simply b/c they opened for Pearl Jam. that may have been the first time they heard about them or heard their music, but i think most people (like myself) simply love their music. their live show is absolutely amazing & i feel like they are one of the most talented & diverse bands going these days. which songs have you heard? i could suggest a few for you to listen to. but if you don't like them, you don't like them. there are plenty of bands out there that a lot of people love that i don't care for, but i don't get upset about it.
here's a suggestion on where to start....

Not really seen or heard much of MMJ other than on the Imagine in Cornice DVD, however, I had a look at your link and I have to say OUTSTANDING!
Could you suggest where I should start album wise to get to know these guys better.
Thanks.
well, i really love all of their records...but maybe grab a their live compilation "Okonokos" first. "Z" & "It Still Moves" are my favorites, but i really like them all.

Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.

Haha SERVED. Yeah I get that crap pretty frequently but to be honest I was really confused and disappointed when I heard they were going to be opening for PJ. The only song I'd heard at that point was the studio version of "Off the Record". The ONLY reason I decided to watch them over Modest Mouse at lollapalooza in 07 was so I could get a better spot for Pearl Jam. They took the stage and opened with "Anytime"... About a minute into the song my friend and I looked to eachother with a look saying..."how the FUCK have we been missing out on this?"
Good times

i was lucky enough to get into this through a friend, who got me into PJ's too, thanks Matt!!
anyway, it was incredible. jim james told some long ass stories, its too bad they will have to get cut, at one point he and half the room were crying when he talked about one of his friends
they played two new songs, which sounded great, they played both of the covers from the shel silverstein album, and just some staples, dondante, golden, one big holiday.
i can't wait until this airs. i had a whirlwind couple of days to be able to catch this, all worth it in the end.
You lucky dog you.
