Well their first album was fantastic but if you missed it they have another one due out soon. Here is a track from it that any Smashing Pumpkins fan should love.

  • I just discovered this band via a friend. Very Gish/Siamese Dream-era Pumpkins influenced. I detect some My Bloody Valentine and The Cure in their sound, too. Cracking band though. They're playing Dublin on my birthday-their first Irish show-and it's only across the road from me and it's only 16 euros. Think I know what I'll be doing so.
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.

  • I absolutely love their new album, definitely one of my favorites of the year so far. Has anyone seen them live? They're playing in Chicago next week and I was thinking about trying to get tickets. Are they good live?

Just saw them at Coachella & they were great. They snuck it at #10 on my top 10 sets for the weekend. I'd see em again for sure.

    10) Pains of Being Pure at Heart
    9) Broken Social Scene
    8) The National (don't even really like them, but they were phenomenal)
    7) Warpaint
    6) The Strokes
    5) Tame Impala
    4) Animal Collective
    3) Sleigh Bells

    your #1 with a bullet...

    Arcade Fire.

Best set of the weekend, and it wasn't even close.

Just missed the cut: PJ Harvey & Best Coast

Yeah, the National snuck up on me. Have their first 2 releases, but kinda gave up on them. That set brought me back.

It's sets like that that make Coachella so great. Bands I haven't seen before, or wanted to but missed, or bands I'd never really taken to for one reason or another. See 'em all in 1 place & see what sticks.
  • Should be able to tell ye how good the Pains... are after June 1st! Not that that helps you as your gig is before. :D The songs are good, so as long as they don't spend the whole gig shoe-gazing (and I've not heard anybody say they do), and they look like they're having a good time, I'd say they'll be good live.

Daytrotter.com has a free live-in-the-studio download recorded April 15. You have to register for the site, but it's free. Has a 128kbps free download of their set (3 or 4 songs). It's good.
