I am officially weirded out by facebook..

I'm 32 years old.

I had a high school teacher add me today.

The name kind of rings a bell, but I have no idea what grade/class he tought.. and I only know it was high school because we have one mutual high school friend..


I'm really am honored I stood out. Really.. but its a bit odd.

    This is the thing that annoys me about Facebook. people who I think I hardly had a real life relationship with years ago request to be friends. like just cause I went to school with you yeas ago, weren't even in any class together, didn't talk at school, or worked with you for a week back in '99 doesn't mean we should be facebook friends. And what I think is more annoying is people I have never met in real life requesting. Sure we might share the same interests but I don't need to read your constant updates about your cats.

    I think I only have a hand full of friends on my list I have never met but have had some sort of long term acquaintanceship with, like there is a group of guys I regularly play xbox live with, or some Aussie pj fans, but thats about it.

    But yeah, never got why people feel the need to collect friends on fb, and feel validated if they have 1000 friends or what ever. I barely have 50, and i don't really have my close regular friends I see all the time, there is no real need for us to be fb friends, I see them all the time anyway.

    This guy I went to high school with added me but never bothered saying one word to me on facebook.
    I deleted him, why add if you aren't going to say hi and how are you etc.
    We never even spoke in high school once from year 7 to 12.

    I think some people just collect 'friends' like they'd collect stamps - the bigger your collection the cooler you are (or something), not thinking about what adding someone entails.

    ^^ People who play the games are the worst about "collecting friends" I was one of those people who needed people to have a big Mafia (over 500 people), when I stopped playing I removed nearly all those people, except for the occasional person who I got to know. I have seen people maxed out with over 4,000 friends, what is the point of that? Nobody has that many friends. And I'm in the same boat now threefish, I have about 77 friends now, about 20something are people I've met online through games or the ps3)

    Yep, Facebook pretty much jumped the shark for me when my mother in law joined. Then I knew it was no longer "cool" :lol:

    I get several request a week from people from my high school who want to be my friend. I went to a large high school and I don't even know these people. When I look at our mutual friends we have like 30 mutual friends in common. I don't bother adding them because I can't imagine they have anything to say I want to hear. If I haven't missed them by now I probably won't.

    Well, I accepted their request, and here's what I'm going to do..

    I'm going to give them one week to communicate what they need to communicate with me. They wanted to be my friend for a reason, right?

    If I don't hear anything from them in one week, I'm going to delete them.. and then delete everyone on facebook who added me who's never communicated with me..

    Whats the point of adding someone you aren't going to communicate with? It's stalkerish.
