    Anyone see The Machinist?

Yeah, I remember at the time thinking that it reminded me of Fight Club.

Speaking of which.....some of the themes in Fight Club really remind me of NIN's The Downward Spiral. That whole idea that "it's only after you have lost everything that you are free to do anything.". Quote from Trent Reznor:

"Thematically I wanted to explore the idea of somebody who systematically throws or uncovers every layer of what he's surrounded with, comfort-wise, from personal relationships to religion to questioning the whole situation. Someone dissecting his own ability to relate to other people or to have anything to believe in..."

I'm almost surprised Trent didn't do the music for the film, it would have fit it really well.

I am just like most people in that I love this film, but Ive always loved it more for the philosophical and moral issues it brings up as opposed to any of the violence or imagery. Brads speeches in the film are extremely thought provoking, they read almost zen in some parts. The gun to the head of that guy, is extreme, but its definitely an interesting idea in terms of what he was trying to provoke in that man, he wasnt going to hurt or kill him. Some of the ideas of the film are just so right on The idea of that only once you have nothing, only then are you free. This anarchistic view of culture and society.
