I came to conclusion that its pretty much impossible to say my favorite PJ album, but Avocado will always be my favorite deep down.
But thats really only because I started getting into PJ on a serious level when Avocado came out, and also when I first saw them in 06. Memories.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10

They really don't have a single weak album and that's why they're one of the best ever.0

After avocado
Backspacer was a huge disappointment
I'm hoping "of the earth" is a sign of their future direction with some epic grunge stomp and mccready stone extended guitar solos...
I don't think there is one significant guitar solo in all of Backspacer...

yeah it's tough to call "one" of them. they each represent a different time in the life and are all equally significant in building their legacy.0 -

Avocado is very underrated and has some really awesome lyrics. If you don't love it yet, give it time.0 -

Watch out also for </3 - which is how I'll feel when they announce the 20th anniversary concert and I realise I'm too broke to go.
What were we talking about? Oh yeah...Avocado...right. Great record - up there with my favourites. Army Reserve somehow went from being my least favourite song on that album to one of my favourite Pearl Jam songs ever.Leeds 2006, London 2007, Hartford 2008, London Shepherds Bush 2009, London O2 2009, Dublin 2010, London Hyde Park 2010, Amsterdam 1 2012, Amsterdam 2 2012, Berlin 1 2012, EV solo London 30/7/2012, Berlin 2014, Stockholm 2014, Milton Keynes 2014, Amsterdam 1 2018, London 1 2018, London 2 2018, EV solo Dublin 2019, London 1 2022, London 2 2022, New York City 2022

I just started back up listening to it after watching the ACL show this weekend again. Army Reserve and Inside are really great tunes and since I put the CD in my car I am reminded that it is a Damn good Album. Now I will probably have it playing in my car for the next few weeks and will be enjoying every minute of it!!!United Center - Aug 23, 2009 / Austin City Limits - Oct 04, 2009 / Sprint Center - May 03, 2010

You cant really compare PJ albums. To say that Backspacer was a disappointment after avocado is subjective and would give merit to me saying that vitalogy was a disappointment compared to Vs.
But yeah, avocado is great, but i'd take backspacer, yield, vs, ten and binaural over that one if i had to chooseRC, SoDak 1998 - KC 2000 - Council Bluffs IA 2003 - Fargo ND 2003 - St. Paul MN 2003 - Alpine Valley 2003 - St Louis MO 2004 - Kissimmee FLA 2004 - Winnipeg 2005 - Thunder Bay 2005 - Chicago 2006 - Grand Rapids MI 2006 - Denver CO 2006 - Lollapalooza 2007 - Bonnaroo 2008 - Austin City Limits 2009 - Los Angeles 2009 - KC 2010 - St Louis MO 2010 - PJ20 Night 1 - PJ20 Night 20 -
Funny, I was just thinking the other day that it hasn't aged that well for me.
I loved, loved, loved Backspacer since the very beginning and I haven't stopped loving it since.... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0
