Can someone recommend a free program to unzip FLAC files with? Something that I can download and where I won't expose my computer to spy/malware or other nasty viruses/surprises. Thanks

No matter what, you should scan zip/compressed folders before you open them.
Keeping your computer free of virus/malware doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the application you use to unzip/uncompress the folder. It has to do with whether or not you have an up-to-date anti-virus/anti-malware application on your computer in addition to the application you will use to decompress.
Bottome line: run the anti-virus/anti-malware program on the folder before you unzip it.
Microsoft Security Essentials is free from MS and rather good.
If you're on a Mac you can try ClamX AV. Try sourceforge.net
Not sure about Linux but sourceforge probably has something, or check Cnet."A lot more people are capable of being big out there that just don't give themselves a chance." -Stone Gossard0
