Poster Questions

Hello,

I'm a long time fan, and just started collecting posters of shows I've attended, I have them all in the original packaging, but was wondering if they are all the same size? If so, can you let me know what size and if you have any suggestions on how to frame without spending an arm and a leg?

Thanks,

GL

if you're rich or snooty, contact a custom framing place. if you're like me, go to walmart and buy some 22x28 frames. most fit in those and, no, they are NOT all the same size!!

What do you mean by "original packaging?" If they're in tubes, they actually should be stored flat.

Leaving them in the tubes can cause rolls and creases in the prints. If you cant afford expensive framing but are worried about cheap frames damaging the prints you can try a presentation case. Sometimes Jerrys Artarama has good sales on them and they hold a variety of sizes and have acid free backing so that the print will not be damaged.

    Try Americanframe.com.

I have purchased all of my frames from there. I have been very happy with all of the frames and the people that work there are very helpful and friendly.

I have found in the past that the prices were a lot cheaper than "Michaels" and the backing board, mat, & plexi they offer won't damage your posters over time like some less expensive ones will.

It is a "put it together yourself" type shop, however it is not difficult at all to tighten a few screws. I just had a poster framed last month & I found out they now offer to put it together for you for an extra $7.00 (which included magnetic dusting & a guarantee).

Now I have to admit, they are not a "chain" and they happen to be located where I live, however the majority of their business is through phone and internet.

I do not work for them or make any money from them. I am just one of there happy customers. If you have any other questions ( or I can attempt to send pictures) just send me a PM.

I dont see where on their site it gives you the option of having them assemble it for you.

ya, first I've heard of this, it's probably if you go to the store and pick it up yourself

Sorry if I misled anyone. I would have to call them to find out about the assembly part of the price. It may only be for in store pick-up. I'm sure it would increase the shipping charge quite a bit if they had to ship it assembled.

I used to use americanframe.com for the whole frame, w/ mat. Got expensive, especially if you want to frame a bunch of posters. I started buying frames at Michaels, 22x28, 18x24, whatever fit the size of the poster the best with a border around it. Then using americanframe.com and just picking out the mat I wanted. Takes a little bit of measurement to ensure the opening is slightly smaller than the print (so it overlaps) and to make sure you get the print centered in the frame. Definitely worth it.

Thanks for the help everyone! I better get home and get the posters out of the tubes!
