when i watch the above clip i envision the swimmer as Dunkman.

i have an aunt Gertrude. this isn't her.

for some reason lastnight it dawned on me "swim the english channel"
i don't know what brought that on but it sounds like a wonderful idea.
mega-training beyond stupid shit im sure.

i was reading where someone suggests swimming 24 hours straight in 55 degrees water; of course working one's way up to that sort of activity. also do dark swims; predawn or after sunset go ahead and take off for a 15 mile swim or something. hell, go join the Seals down in San Diego or wherever.

on some site i was checking out it says it is equal to climbing Everest
i remember reading somewhere it said "suicidal swim"
out of those who try the swim 10% make it.

i guess dunkman made it across in a speedo & swimmer's grease

Will you wear a Speedo with the American flag on it?

There is very little I enjoy more than swimming. But I don’t do public pools or anything so I stick to the rivers and lakes and hot springs. I have swum across a high mountain lake in the middle of a snow storm and watched my flesh turn the color of salmon meat. Good times.

I think you should swim from Alcatraz to the San Fran warf...then it would give you a good idea of swimmin' the channel...Jack Lalanne did it (may he rest in workout heaven)....just sayin!

you can do it chad...I believe in you.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

my asshole cousin said it was cool for us to swim oregon coast around march or april. what a silly idea that was. riptide undertoe whatever it was drug the three of us many miles down the beach and in short order. thankfully it was parallel with beach rather than away from the beach out to sea someplace.

that water was so damn cold and brutal it beat us up pretty good. iowa corn dicks will do anything to swim in the ocean. that's how stupid they are. ;)

swam a mountain lake when i was a kid. so frickin cold.

public pools can be pretty bad if let go to hell. it is safe to say i would swim in waste if it meant swimming. my knee is destroyed. water is the only thing that doesn't murder me.
