My buddy lives close to some. The magnetic field around them was strong enough to light fluorescent bulbs right in your hand. We used to go have light saber fights under them, til we'd break a few.

Didn't read that webpage but we had tons of fun, so it could be worth the risk.

EMFs can effect your brain waves. You might not sleep as well as you used to. Same with having electronics near your bed. They say, put the alarm clock on the other side of the room. I'm not sure about long-term effects.. It's probably some pretty strong EMFs. I would look elseware.

My sister has some right behind her house and you can hear them sizzling too

The only complaint that she ever has is when helicopters come by to inspect them...she says they get so close and low that it looks like they are going to land on her roof. I have never witnessed it but she said the first time it freaked her out, really loud and the house felt like it was shaking

I know a man who has lived with his family by the power lines for about 10 yrs now. They seem fine. Their dog got sick one day and it was cancer. He was put to sleep after living there a few yrs but I doubt there was a relationship. My concern would be if you buy it and then you have to sell it, could the power lines hurt the resale.
This link says NIH has some info

  • I don't live near them, but there are clusters of them around Long island. Many people say, though i certainly can't vouch for it, that those lines, sometimes referred to as "High-T's" are responsible for LI's abnormally high breast cancer rates
