What Pearl Jam song is it?

This is going to sound very funny but here it goes...A while back I had an accident and lost my memory. One evening I came across a Pearl Jam CD and started to play it. I instantly knew ALL the songs, and was singing all night. I fell asleep listening to the CD and when I awoke I remembered being in my old schoolyard (some 20 some odd yrs ago) trying to learn one particular song of theirs that when you sing it your vocal cord gets stuck and you can't stop singing the song until it is over.My friends and I went through a lot of CD's trying to learn that song. The funny thing is when I ask all my friends what song it was... No one knows. I see the CD it's on. I know the beat. So... Is there a song? Am I going crazy? Or can I all of a sudden see into the future.lol

So, what does the cd look like? Is it a fast or a slow song?
    Houston Tx@The Vatican 1991, Stockholm@Moderna Museet 1992, Stockholm@Sjöhistoriska 1995, Warzawa@Torwar 1996, Stockholm@Sjöhistoriska 2000, Oslo@Spectrum 2000, Berlin@Wuhlheide 2009, Stockholm@Globen 2012, Oslo@Spectrum 2012, Copenhagen@Forum 2012, Amsterdam x2 2014, Berlin 2014, Stockholm 2014, Oslo 2014 (Strangest Tribe!), London 2018, Berlin 2018, Seattle 1+2 2018....
  • It looks like rearviewmirror the song is not "Black" it is fast and words must must continue till the end of song.
  • There are many fast PJ songs, so it could have been anything

"Go", "Animal", "Leash" and obviously "Rearviewmirror" come to my mind ...

umm...I maybe confused here (simply cuz it's that time of the day and I'm a little unwell) but if u say the memory is from 20-odd-yrs ago it could only have been from either Ten (Vs. at a stretch). Does playing the songs not help jog your memory??
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?
  • I've listened to all my PJ CDs and I can't find it. Maybe it's from Mother Love Bone? None of you know what I'm talking about?Do you know of any song that you just have to keep singing until the music stops?
  • When you say you see the cd its on, what do you mean? what the album sleeve looks like? That might help!

Its not Temple of the dog "Hunger Strike" by any chance? Not that thats fast really but if I understand what your saying the lyrics keep going! :?
Drop the leash, Drop the leash........
  • I see it like Rearveawmirror. But who knows it could be Eddie w/ Temple of the Dog.I just know that I trashed a lot of CDs from overplay of that song.

If you heard the song 20 years ago, and are convinced that members of PJ were playing on it, then it can only be from one or two records: PJ's Ten, or Mother Love Bone's Apple/Self Titled release. If you're not sure about the time frame and think that the specific amount of time "20 years" might be a generalization, then you should also consider the soundtrack to the movie "Singles," the PJ album Vs., and the self titled album Temple of the Dog.

Songs that feature strong vocal melodies to almost the very end
    Mother Love Bone
    This is Shangrila
    Stardog Champion
    Holy Roller
    Come Bite the Apple
    Stargazer
    Heartshine
    Captain Hi-Top
    Capricorn Sister
    Mr. Danny Boy
Crown of Thorns or Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns
    Thru Fade Away

    Temple of the Dog
    Hunger Strike
    Pushin' Forward Back
    Times of Trouble
    Your Savior
    Four Walled World
    All Night Thing

    Pearl Jam - Ten
    Once
    Why Go
    Black
    Porch
    Garden
    Deep

    Pearl Jam - B-Sides
    Wash

    Pearl Jam - Vs.
    Animal
    Dissident
    W.M.A.
    Rats
Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town

For any of the above songs you should be able to go to Amazon.com or the iTunes store and listen to some 30 second previews of each song. That may help. It may also help if you can answer some of the following questions.

    Questions
    1. What do you mean when you say you "see it like rearviewmirror"? Do you mean like the cover of the greatest hits album Rearviewmirror or something else?

    2. Can you quote any specific lyrics to the song?

    3. Is the song played with acoustic or electric guitars, or no guitars?

    4. Can you describe in any detail what the cover of the album looks like? Colors vs. black and white? People, animals, or other imagery?

    5. Was it a CD or vinyl you remember listening to? If it was a CD, what color was the CD?

    6. Can you remember any other things going on, like say in the news or sports, around the time that you were listening to the song?

Maybe it was just a dream and the song doesn't really exist outside of your mind...

I was tempted to suggest this, but I know how frustrating it can be when u can't figure out what song u're trying to name/identify...it can go on for a very long time. I also understand in your situation, Dawnella, it must be even more frustrating cuz t was in a dream and after you suffered memory loss. Really hope you can figure this out somehow :)

I have all those albums... it's not on any of them.

--Yes.The CD looks like the cover . And I've listened to Reavviewmirror and some of the songs are on it. I'm starting to think I'm going crazy.
    2. Can you quote any specific lyrics to the song?.
If I could that would solve my prob. lol
    3. Is the song played with acoustic or electric guitars, or no guitars?
--Electric. I can hear the entire song in my head. You know, when it's on the tip of your tongue.
    4. Can you describe in any detail what the cover of the album looks like? Colors vs. black and white? People, animals, or other imagery?
    Rearviewmirror.
    5. Was it a CD or vinyl you remember listening to? If it was a CD, what color was the CD?
A CD.We would practice the song to get the words right and we would break the CD from overuse. I recall buying 5-6 of the same CD just to learn that song. Everyone was doing it.But in the end it was so cool keeping up w/ the song and not being able to stop singing while it's playing!!! I can see it as clear as day.
    6. Can you remember any other things going on, like say in the news or sports, around the time that you were listening to the song?[/quote
No I wish I could. It would make it a lot easier to figure out. Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Hey Dawnella, maybe it was an inofficial bootleg cd you were listening to. There were lots of those around. There is a blog where you could do a deeper search, the covers as well as the tracks that are on the disks are listed there: http://demetriosns.blogspot.com Maybe one of those rings a bell ;) Good luck!

Do you know whether it was a live recording or a studio version?

Considering your dilemma, the easiest way to "discover" what song it is you're looking for may be to do something of the following sort.

    1. Listen to PJ's early studio albums straight through, starting at the beginning. This includes Mother Love Bone and Temple of the Dog.

    2. If you don't have them all, go to an online service like Amazon or iTunes and listen to the previews they have freely available.

    3. Consider non-album tracks like B-Sides/compilations/soundtracks. gremmie.net has a comprehensive library of them for you to fully listen to.

    4. Consider that it wasn't a PJ song.

    5. Contact one of your old friends to see if they remember the song.

    Best of luck.

:( I did all that. The only thing I have left to believe is that I'm seeing the future. But do I believe in that. I know the song they need to do. I know, it sounds crazy!!!The tune... Is like "Who You Are."
    Best of luck.
