    most people like Philly 3 better. Personally, I enjoyed the 4th. I think the 2nd MSG show was in the same league. As was Boston 2010. State College, etc.

    so many great shows in their own way. The Ice Bowl, that Milwaukee (94?), Buffalo 03, Atlanta 94, Soldier Field, you name it

    I disagree that performance-wise it was a top 5, but I certainly had a fabulous time!!!!

    It was mine too. Would love another whole week of Pearl Jam like I did in Philly '09. A whole week of Pearl Jam in one city, under the same roof, crashing @ the same hotel. Saving on money & taking in as much as possible the sites & sound of the city.

    the State College show was "fun" but if I had to think of 5 shows that defined Pearl Jam it would not be anywhere near my list.

    Yes it did. Night three was an epic show - night four was epic in length and setlist oddity. Big difference.

    For many years, us fans, including myself, have been attempting to quantify the shows, but I am getting the feeling more and more that this is really impossible to do. Every now and then, someone sends out a message like this in an attempt to justify their perspective on these shows and ultimately I think it's just personal. Greatest Show Ever threads always devolve into a list of shows you've been to because those are the greatest they've ever played. This sorta proves the point that these shows just aren't quantifiable because each moment has different meaning to each attendee.

    Do I have favorites? Yes. And I was in attendance for most of those. But I am retiring officially from naming the greatest, because who am I to make that judgment about someone else's show that theirs wasn't.

    P.S. This isn't sour grapes, as I was at the Halloween show, all the MSGs, Boston 03, and some of the others people have been listing. They were all great epic shows as far as I'm concerned, and frankly, there have been very few, if any, merely extraordinary Pearl Jam shows. They're all amazing.
