  • Oh please.

Anyone dumb enough to buy that crap needs their head examined.

Remember the famous "pimp and ho in the ACORN" office where they got an employee acting like he was giving them advice on how to smuggle underage kids across the Mexican border?

They forgot to mention that the moment the "pimp and ho" left the office, the employee called the police to report them.

Trusting these silly "gotchya" videos that are pretty obviously edited to score some political points is stupid. Like the people who are presently throwing hissy fits on the Fox "news" forums right now, I guess.

Sorry Jean, so really is this story 100% untrue ? as I read it it didn't surprise me that something like this was going on,all it takes is one person to make a mess like this in any company.

No, but I'm saying that most likely they've managed to edit out enough footage to make you think that Planned parenthood supports underage prostitution. When probably what happened is quite the opposite.

Let's say I said out loud "I don't want to do anything that would kill your mother."

And then you edited that sentence in half.

While it's true I did say "kill your mother," would you consider it "true" that I told someone to kill your mother?

My pragmatic question is, why does the far-right rally against planned parenthood in the first place? I'm surprised they don't try to open as many as possible. Of course, there is the religious view that abortion and contraceptives are bad, but after that it actually helps their agenda big time.

thats a horrible way to get your point across..my mother ? and you used the word "likely" so lets just wait till the story surfaces a little more then we'll have a better idea of whats going on, deal ? :D

Again, this is a pragmatic analysis ... the majority of teen pregnancies result in a single mother raising the children with the father out of the picture within a couple years. The mother faces a difficult time on furthering her education while raising the children. If the mother cannot support her children on her own, then social assistance is required by the government. If the mother has multiple children, then each child's chance of getting proper guidance and education drops. And the cycle has a good chance of repeating itself. All of this can be avoided by using a condom. A $.25 investment can save the US government thousands, reduce crime, and allow a young women a chance to develop.

  • it's beyond disturbing when anyone is willing to overlook underage girls involved in prostitution, but i have to say one bad office manager should not be the representation of the entire organization. i am not a fan of planned parenthood but that doesn't excuse us accusing a whole organization based of the deplorable actions of one individual.

why ? fox news is so popular that CNN is even trying to use the fox pitch.
also I have noticed that fox will cover stories that other networks don't, I don't think any news station is 100% accurate on any news, fox is just more fun to read.

Why? Because it isn't the truth. It's a spin of the truth in where they make up your mind for you the way they want to make up your mind for you. All their information has an agenda ... to help you think the way they want you to think about what they show you.

P.S. What a fuckin' world that we have to actually write this to each other.

well sense you seem to be so knowledgeable on networks and stories that FOX has invented
could you please give us an example of a invented story by fox, but if your banging on FOX just to be part of the club here on the train then no explanation is needed, I understand totally.

    Godfather.

Just a for instance.... they bank-rolled a HUGE "grass roots" rally in Washington DC. That cost tens of thousands of dollars to mount and Fox News promoted the LIFE out of it for months, all the while pretending that it was "moms and dads and concerned citizens" who'd thrown it together.

They then created the "story" that no other network covered it. Totally bogus, all the major networks and cable networks did massive coverage of it, but the "only Fox mentioned it" became part of their "poor lonely me" mantra for a while.

There are countless instances of Fox news making stories up or intentionally getting them wrong. Every time a Republican is caught cheating on his wife, stealing money or sucking cock in a men's washroom, Fox News "accidentally" puts a "D" or "Democratic Congressman" next to his name.

I'm not giving liberal news a pass... there's warping on both sides. But Fox news is FAR and AWAY the worst offender.
  • I'm going to keep my opinions about fox news to a minimum, but as someone closely involved with the sexual abuse survivor community and lots of troubled teens, I do have an observation.

By and large, I support planned parenthood- I support providing girls and women with birth control and sexual education. However, I do think they, and other agencies that provide reproductive health care to teenagers, are willing to overlook the circumstances under which these girls come to them. And since basically everyone who works in health care is a mandated reporter (someone who must report suspected child abuse, for fear of criminal and civil penalites), this is unacceptable.

A few years ago in my community, an eleven-year-old girl was brought to planned parenthood by her mother, pregnant and with an STI. From a mandated-reporter point of view, that's suspicious as hell. Legally, eleven-year-old can't give consent to sex, but in their minds they can. But if her partner was more than three years older than she is, it is considered child abuse and must be investigated as such. No one investigated, CPS wasn't notified, and a few years later the girl was shot dead by her "boyfriend" in his late twenties.

I understand how providing contraception or abortions to women and girls who's lives are completely out-of-control can be seen as throwing up a sort of fire wall- "there's nothing I can do to help these people, but I can keep them from having babies they can't care for". That's far from the best way of looking at things, but probably not the worst, either. But a better way is to pay attention to the whole patient, not just the parts below the waist, and try to at least do what the law mandates them to do. I've also heard a lot of people who work in the child abuse/ at-risk youth fields who say that reproductive health providers- not just planned parenthood- tend to turn a blind eye to youth who come for services who are being sexually abused. There's a lot of ignorance about child sexual abuse in the medical field, but reproductive health care providers, especially, should get a crash course.

I do suspect the video on Fox news is heavily edited. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it contains a small kernel of truth, and that is upsetting.

Actions speak louder than words Godfather, and you continually cite Fox News for threads you make up. Therefore, although I know you can seem open-minded once in a while since you do seem to actually read and contemplate some views different than your own, you continually go back to a news source that's known to blatantly report "news" that's completely in line with the Republican ideology. If you started citing more credible news sources, I actually may give you more of a chance. :)
