Anyone see this? Their website says they're officially done. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I have all their albums and I've seen live a few times, and I prefer the White Stripes to any of Jack's other projects. Weird thing is, I just read 3 weeks ago that they were working on new material, Oh well... I guess it's sad news.

good riddance i says. Both of his other bands (the racontours and the dead weather) are wayyyyyyy better. If this means more music from them, we're better off.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I really hope that Jack White will start his career as a solo artist. Should we continue in the "Other bands" section? I think it was good that you started the thread to draw attention as this is big news. I also posted this in the most active thread of the day (the vs/vitalogy re-issue details)...

  • Glad I saw them live a few times! On to the next JW project!

Long live the thirdman Vault! (a few fanclubs could learn from it......)

I read it under music news on our local rock station just a few minutes ago.

This really sucks, but in all honesty, I kind of saw this coming. Last big tour they did was canceled, cause Meg was having anxiety issues. She has been pretty much out of the limelight since.

I am hoping that with all break up rumors for bands, they will reunite in due time, even if it's just for a few one off tour dates. This will show a high demand for the band and hopefully bring them back to record. (Bands say these things all the time, and end up getting back together).

I want to see them live so bad. I've seen Dead weather twice, but still need to see Raconteurs and the Stripes. I hope in a few years, the overwhelming response will show how much they are missed.

The dead weather can't even be compared to the white stripes. Guitar playing, singing Jack White is so much better than drumming Jack White. Don't get me wrong, the dead weather are OK, but can't even be compared to the greatness of the White Stripes. The raconteurs were really good though... I wonder when their inevitable announcement will be made.
