Yeah, I have a PJ spreadsheet and I love it. I try to look at different things to do with it. so I have come up with a couple ideas. This one is easy. Basically take all your shows and find the songs that were your 1st, 50th, 100th, 150th and so on by 50. (no encores). and what is your favorite of all of them?
For Me:

I'm always interested in talking PJ spreadsheets. I'd really be interested to know how yours is actually set up to capture this milestone data. My spreadsheet does a lot of things, but was not designed to capture such data. But I wouldn't mind hearing more about how your sheet is set up. It sounds like we took completely different approaches to our sheets, and I really like learning from opposing points of view.

I do know that I have heard PJ play 1237 songs; not including tags, pre sets, and Ed solo. Which brings up a good point, Does your spreadsheet count pre sets, incomplete songs, tags, Ed solo shows, etc? You could slice and dice many ways to get a different answer.

This is exactly the reason I tried to do a web query to capture data on how many times a song was played! I started a thread about this and no one was able to help. I wanted my sheet to go to PJ.com, grab how many times each song was played, and update my spreadsheet.

What are the rules? Do covers count? Or only PJ originals? I've heard plenty of songs that they've only played once, such as bugs. In my opinion, the rarest song would also not have been played for a while. For example, Just a girl, or Angel would be about as rare as you could possibly get. So I need to find out which songs I have heard that have only been played once, and then see which was the earliest.

I've never heard education, it's on my short list of songs with brother, undone, otherside and of the earth. Thankfully it is also one of the worst songs they have ever done, so I couldn't pick a better one to miss. Unfortunetly the rest of the songs on my list are pretty good.

While I still can't make it automatic, I did some quick spreadhsheet work. This assumes that all data on PJ.com is up to date.

Let me Sleep is the rarest song (PJ Original). It has only been played once, and it was a LONG time ago. Just a girl is equally as rare, it has only been played twice, but it's been over 3 years longer than let me sleep. So the question is, can we come up with a formula that equally weights # of times played versus how long ago it was played? For example, Bugs was played only once, and fairly recently. It should not be considered more rare than just a girl, which was played twice but a LONG time ago.

I was bored on the way to work this morning, so I started thinking about a "rarity index". What I did was divide the # of times played, by a ratio that was less than 1. So it made the # of times played bigger. That ratio is:

Today's Date - Last time played

---

Today's Date - 10/22/1990

So if the last time a song was played was at their first show, you would get a ratio of 1. So I quickly applied this to the list of songs, and found some interesting results.

1) Let me Sleep (1.24)
2) Just a Girl (2.02)
3) Last Soldier (4.37)
4) Angel (4.80)

Angel has been played 4 times, Last Soldier has only been played twice. My gut still tells me that Angel should be more rare, since it was played a long time ago. But I guess it makes sense, that they should be about equally rare.

On the other end, the least rare songs were surprising, but they have been slightly skewed by bridge school.
