Some might know I'm a huge Mike Ness/ Social Distortion fan. The new album is well worth checking out if you haven't already. The link is for a great interview with them and some good gear talk and pictures too..

Yea I've been on a kick for a single P-90 junior with a wrap around tail piece. Than I read that, and saw the picks and started looking at VOS Deluxes while continually telling myself they are ridiculously over priced.

  • And now I'm on the fence with getting the scratch and dent model from AMS for $350 cheaper..... Me and my impulse purchasing.

Prefer the single cutaway, don't like the satin finish... Man I'm high maintanence.

Well I sat on it till now, and showed the wife, and she pushed me hard. So the scratch and dent is coming home. Probably be here tuesday. Worse case if the scratch or dent or both is hideously bad (which I doubt) I'll just return it.

i recently saw a guy with a jazzmaster bought on scratch and dent. it was like $350 and the dent was the diameter of a pea, if that. so minor.

personally, i love the double cuts so good job.

part of the reason i jumped on this 60s tribute was that i missed out when gibson made the double cut faded DCs a while back and have wanted a p90 guitar ever since. really liked the DC style but wasn't crazy about the faded finish. this worn finish looks ok and a bit of buffing takes care of the satin if so desired.

I'm actually hoping it's more along the lines of a scratch, that's a easy repair with the nitro finish.

It will be here Wednesday weather permitting. Just in time for me to set it up Thursday afternoon before recording session rehearsal.

  • I got a discount of about 150 Euros on my scratch and dent J-Bass. Just two dents. Nothing serious. However, within the roughly 9 months I've had it there have been a lot of scratches and dents added. Those thin nitro finishes on the Highway models really don't forgive any serious rock 'n roll treatment. But as I like worn sunburst finishes it' not really a problem for me.

Well I bought the one that was at my link. I believe you can even do a search for just scratch and dent. Or I believe they call it outlet zone.

for instance on this link, you will see the regular priced ones, than a line for scratch and dent.

Oh minor dents or scratches don't but me. I'm a clumsy mo-fo. Seriously. I'm proun to knock head stocks on ceilings the first day I play a new gutiar or bass. My '62 jazz reissue has a mark on the body from the knurled portion of a cymbal stand. I was getting a drink and my drummer was asking me a question so I turned quick and scrape......

  • That sounds a lot like that weird game of chicken my bass played with a drumset on a pretty small stage once. I suppose you can guess who won.

  • The junior is finally here at work. Wew...

One minorally small dent on the body. Micro....

But the screw heads on the studs to the bridge look like someone used a small screw driver on it to adjust it. No big deal I'll replace them. Still worth the saves. Fret job is actually really fantastic.

Now I'll let it sit till saturday to I can set it up. Let the thing get adjusted to its new conditions.

    PIctures tomorrow!

  • The picks. I believe everyone can see them here. If not I'll put them elsewhere too.
