But I'm still holding out for an ES-339 and a 314ce.

I've been looking at these. I wish I had the extra cash. Though I also want a Jazzmaster. And a Les Paul Special...

The Goldtop looks pretty nice, but I'm holding out for a ES-339 too!

  • Though I also want a Jazzmaster,

The new Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster is VERY intriguing, especially for the price:

I've always been tepid toward the extra tone controls on the standard JM, so this particular model is pretty cool. And the Duncan JM pickups are usually pretty good. I'd probably swap the neck for rosewood board, but at that price, you could afford it.

In other news, so sad that Gibby stopped offering the ES-339 with the 30/60 neck. Makes them so much more expensive. By the time I can afford the retail price, they'll be collectible and cost 30% more.

i'd go with the blacktop jazzmaster long before the squier. a JM without the vibrato is not a JM.... it's JM shaped....

the blacktop dispenses with the rhythm circuit too. the only bad thing i've read about it is the bridge pickup sucks. sure it's $150 more but it's still only $450.
  • Hopefully the fret edges is filed down. But it is a cool piece. I've always loved the honey burst finish.

i'm sure at that price point it'll need some attention. unfortunately, sharp frets are something i'm used to living in a dry climate.

Totally understandable. it just seems anymore even with fender that this is being over looked more and more.

yeah. pretty much all my unbound necks have cracked finish around the fret ends. the next step in my DIY learning is to get the tools and skills to do my own fret work.

i'm really interested to play this thing. i haven't tried a chambered les paul. my old custom is a boat anchor but my friend's new traditional is a very reasonable weight.

Sounds like a room with a humidifier is in order!

I've played a chambered les paul style Grosh that my buddy owns. Could wear it all day long, it's just weird to have this style body being so light.

i think this year i'll be framing in and finishing the corner of the basement that serves as my guitar room so yes, then it will be properly humidified. i make due with individual ones for my acoustics during winter but there are too many electrics to deal with.

still waiting for mine... i'm assuming early march arrival. i haven't heard of any other left-handed ones landing yet though i've seen right-handed ones.

i haven't heard numbers either apart from someone stating 400 of each color for left-handed which leads me to believe the number of right-handed ones would be an order of magnitude higher.

i think the 50s tributes from last year sold pretty fast. they may have even been selling for more than retail on ebay etc but i'm not sure.

that is how it always goes, huh. something you are expecting arrives when you are in no position to get it. i hope it played as well as it looks.

I finally bit the bullet and swiped an Audix OM7 on the 'Bay, it arrives tomorrow according to the FedEx website. Of course, I'll wait around all day, and it will get delivered at 7 pm.

Hope your goldtop arrives in showroom condition!

i'll get to open the shipping carton so it should be good.

they look great. some of them have funky backs because they're multi-piece but hopefully mine is ok. but even then, as long as it's lively overall it's all good.

plus i got mine at the low price. everyone else is 150-200 more.

it's weird for me because my brain doesn't register left handed guitars as abnormal but nor does it right handed ones. so sometimes i'll be looking at a guitar and it doesn't twig that i can actually play it.

Wow! This is very inciting. Does anyone know if they ship to Australia, coz it doesnt seem like it. One of these would wet my P-90 appetite quiet nicely i think

remember guys, it's as normal for me as a right-hander playing a righty is. i couldn't play a right-handed guitar at all, either. but I am playing the "normal" way relative to my dominant hand.

I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the time zone difference bud?
