Im watching videos on youtube of people all the way out on the grass, and the atmosphere just feels blah. Now im not going to judge at all, I was not there.. but how was it? Looks like a lot of people sitting down on the grass...

well most of it depends on the weather and the people there. I wasn't at that particular show, but most outdoor concerts are the same.
The Gorge can get to the mid-high 90s and us Seattlites turn into whiny cry babies when the weather gets over 85. The desert is hot and dry and when a bottle of water costs $6 people can get testy.
The grass higher up is usually for people that want to participate in 'chill out zone', if you stand up you usually get yelled at to sit down....if ya wanna dance with strangers sit in the grass near the pit, or just mill around and find cool people to hang with. I've never had any issues getting along or sharing things with others I sit by. Have danced with strangers at Lolla back in the day...I really prefer outdoor festivals to arena concerts. or maybe it's cuz I'm jonesing for an outdoor concert.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

The Gorge is sweet, other than the beer policy. Probably best fans I've seen other then Philly, but realy...shutting down beer sales within sight of the stage at sundown? For god's sake, treat us like adults. But seriously, anyone that treks out to Gorge, WA is there for the music, not just an anoying random "sounds fun,sure I'll go" type that gets bored if they don't hear the hits.1994 - Bridge School I; 2005 - The Gorge; 2006 - SD & LA I; 2008 - SD II(EV) & Camden I;

Thank god PJ does not play stupid ampitheathers in the northeast. They suck! Just my opinion. But if I sit out in the grass and claim my spot early some dumb bitch always just steps in front of me. I will never buy grass again. Nancy Reagan would be proud. Or buy grass for tixs at Darien Lake,NY for shows and they let you upgrade at the show for $5.0

I ended up back in the lawn section for the Riot Act tour's stop at the Shoreline and it sucked! It seemed like my Dad and I were the only ones enjoying the concert. Everybody else in the scarcely populated area were talking the whole time.
I prefer when they came back here for the Avocado run and played the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium 3x. I was up close at all 3! Great times!
Outside Lands was much more open, and more scenic, than the Shoreline, but I don't feel like staying up front all day for anybody, so I was pretty far back from the stage.
Open floor arenas! My preference!Fan of singer songwriters who push musical boundaries?
