my sister's note to Eddie... and Mike

....that she never sent


"Dear Eddie..
We go back a long way, you and I..or so i'd like to believe..
We go back to when I was an angry, rebellious metal listening, head banging teenager with my self destuct button pressed tight..
We go back to when I wasn't sure whether I hated myself more or the world... or my dad..
We go back to when Alive saved me; it made me realize the world didn't revolve around me..
We go back to when Rearview Mirror helped me see things in perspective..
We go back to when i saw you save my brother..
We go back to when McCready and you played Given to fly and the sea revived me..
We go back to when I am mine made me see i AM mine..
We go back to when Riot Act awoke the activist in me..
And here we are now.. survived and among the fittest..
Thank you for so much and more..
And Mike.. Mad Season will always be closest to my soul.. for that's really me and i need Pearl Jam to help me be all that i'm not.
I love you both"

    When I was railing it across Europe with 4 of my friends, as a youth - one of my friends used to have this trick to clear the carriage compartment- so we could get some sleep..... he would grind up his asthma inhaler tablets and then start snorting lines of them off the table top. He's a little bit odd - which is why we still get on so well

    I think the effect he was going for was more on the observers than himself. He used to crack them out in a compartment full of screaming children late at night, and then watch the parents move into another compartment. He kind of has his own version of morality - and it's no use arguing with him. Still, we did get some good nights sleep as a result of his antics!

    Chad will be back and I hope he's gonna spend more time in here.

    Yeah they were great times - I have 15 years of memories crammed into about 5 weeks from that summer. There was a lot more to remember than screaming children and going to sleep. Stories.... of debauchery, mischievousness, high risk and rebellion. Seems a long way from sitting in front of the fire typing and sipping my tea.....sorry - beer!

    Lovely name Sadia,
    Beautiful letter I feel the words too. Yes we do go way back.
    I often wonder if I wasn't so in need of them back then in 91 would I have loved them so,
    stayed these 20 years.
    Pearl Jam makes me think of my path in life and how things are meant to be.
    That's comforting and a 2way kind of feel.
