If you add the year you were born to the age you'll be this year. I was born in 74, and I'll be 37 in November :o
74+37=111

    y = your age this year

    So 1900 + x is the actual year you were born (e.g. 1982 for me)

    2011 - year you were born = your age this year

    So..

    2011 - (1900 + x) = y
    2011 - 1900 - x = y
    2011 - 1900 = x + y
    111 = x + y

    Right, but the 111 thing only works if you were born in the 1900s. Unless, for example, you were born in 2001 and you use 101 for the year instead of 1.

    Right, that's why my formula works the difference between the FULL YEAR (2001) and 1900 is 101... Works for the 1800's too as a non absolute value...
