The Tea Party are reuniting!!!

Frankly, I have no idea what is going through Jeff Martin's head. He's the former lead singer of The Tea Party, one of my favourite bands from the 90's, still to this day. He dumped his former bandmates. They found out through the media (NICE!). Then, he went solo. His solo album, Exile And The Kingdom, also frankly, sucked balls. He released three live albums after that, two of which were only available in Oz (THANKS CATE!). Then he formed a band with the guy he played on his last two live albums with, Wayne Sheehy, as the twosome The Armada. that album was basically the new version of The Tea Party. And it ROCKED. They released that album and one live album digitally through their website.

Then.........nothing.

Now, all of a sudden, he's got this on his website: "recording sessions of the Jeff Martin 777 debut album....". How many debut albums can one guy be a part of? Can this guy not commit to one freaking project at once? I mean, I love everything he does (except for his first-and coincidentally, post-religious awakening-solo disc), but I really wanted to see The Armada live. Oh well, I'll settle for this 777 business. I'm sure it's going to rock. Since he's basically the musical (and egotistical) Canadian version of Billy Corgan (no matter who he's with, it always sounds like The Tea Party-except, again, his crappy solo record, just like Billy)

Album called "The Ground Cries Out" is out Feb 22nd. Cross Canada tour March 3-29.

    He was living here in Ireland in West Cork for a good few years. Don't know if he still is. I saw him in the Spirit Store in Dundalk playing to 42 people a few years back (I taped that, actually). And then he just vanished. Wayned used to play drums for Irish music legend Damien Dempsey, too. I don't think Jeff Martin knows what the fuck he's doing. Just blast "Temptation" and leave it at that!

    He burned some bridges with people in Ireland, with regards not paying them and the like. That might have something to do with his musical schizophrenia in recent years.

    I think someone took one of his guitars coz he wouldn't pay them. It got physical. I wasn't there, so treat it as gossip and hearsay, and nothing more. He was driving round the shows here in his beat up old car though. He seems like a pretty cool guy socially, I'm just not sure I'd wanna go into business with him. But like I say, gossip and hearsay. I don't wanna be raggin' on someone I don't know. It's not fair. And all those details above I got second hand, but from people I know and trust.

    I don't know much about him personally but I like alot of his music. :D He was doing some set on the radio not long ago with sitars and other Indian sounding instrument in the background. Sounded pretty good. Pretty sure it was him?????

    Yeah me too, I have been listening to a fair bit of his stuff recently, both with The Armada, The Tea Party and his Indiany sounding solo stuff. :D He is a bit of a tool by the sounds of it but damn he's creative.

    so there's a toronto show going on sale very soon, but i haven't listened to the tea party in a couple of days. i'm mulling it over, but i'm sure i'll end up going. just giving the toronto-fans a heads-up.

    Wow, great news... I hand't seen this post until today, and I just saw on their twitter that they are touring Canada.
    Hopefully we get some new music from them...

    there has been buzz about new music depending how this tour goes. Winnipeg date just announced today! can't wait!

    apparently they've been offered close to a million dollars for their domain name from the tea party folks in the US. the band isn't happy that group of political folks are "sullying the band name".

    Oh, crazy American politics.

    Congrats on the for tix, should be a good show. Now I have a few Weeks to refresh my knowledge of their music. I still remember every word to Babylon if that helps.
