I owed about $4K last year. I like to owe, but not quite that much. My ideal situation would be to owe about $1K.

    Decent refund, quite decent.

Nothing exciting, just paying some bills.
    Nice shirt.

I only check the board about once a week or so these days. I'm just bored today.

  • I love this time of year!!! :D

I plan to use a chunk of it for car insurance renewal,
buy some new lens for my Rebel,
and save the rest for PJ20 booooyah!

But, concrete sounds cool, too! ;)
  • I'm afraid I'll owe a HUGE amount this year. I got divorced in August but until September or maybe October I was claiming 6, when I should have been claiming 1.

On the other hand, I paid like $6,000 in spousal support which is deductable. And about $8,000 in interest which is deductable... so I might be okay. I'm guessing I'll owe $1k - $2k.

It's amazing that I can pay almost $12,000 to the government over the course of a year and STILL OWE THEM MONEY.... :? And that is just in income tax. I paid $4,000 in property tax and who knows how much in sales tax and other taxes. Probably paid $20k last year, or close to it, in taxes.

Add to that spousal support that I paid... and for every three dollars I make,

it is one for the government, one for the ex-wife, and one for me.

  • Should get a large refund this year... Should have changed withholdings, but knowing the wife was going to be out of work for these first few months of the year on maternity leave, I though having a good refund check would help cover that loss in pay.

If there is any left, I'm putting it towards materials for a new back yard fence this spring.

Ideally you should just break even right? If you get a big refund aren't you just letting the government borrow your money?

just because i was curious...dug up last years return. 1830.15. yeah, i do pennies.

it had some of that one credit worth up to 400, so i suspect that this years will be closer to 1400 or 1500 depending on my charitable contributions.

  • Did my taxes over the weekend. Getting a pretty nice amount back. Will prob use half for a little getaway to somewhere warm sometime in March with the lady. Other half I'll put away...perhaps that can be used for a certain 20th anniversary celebration this summer...

Looks like the refund check ( a decent amount actually ) will be going towards my wife's new car. I know, I'm a wonderful husband  . She allows me to fly ( free, she's a flight attendant ) anywhere ( PJ20 ) my favorite bands are playing so it's the least I could do 8-) . I LOVE my wife!

I do hate getting the paperwork in order though, reminds me of all the homework I was never able to get done :? . Probably why I dropped out of college  . Really makes me very anxious.
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
