Brad is such an awesome band. Thank you to this board for recommendations on their albums. I ended up buying all 4. I personally like "welcome to discovery park, and "Best Friends"? and "interiors" best. All 4 albums are fantastic though, doesn't really matter where you start.

I also just bought "the family" by Satchel and it is also an awesome record. Shawn Smith is great. Gonna get into Pigeon Head soon.

Didn't feel the need to start a thread on Satchel on my own post, but thank you all for the Shawn Smith projects- great stuff. :D

Do you know the story of how they got that name?

They wanted to call themselves Shame. Some other guy named Brad had a band called Shame, and he didn't want Stone and company using the name. So they named themselves after that guy. And named their first record Shame.

He found out Stone was in the band and figured he could get some $$$ for letting them use the name. Naming the band Brad was their way of giving him the middle finger.

  • I had never listened to them until they put 'Believe in Yourself' on PJ.com and that song blew me away. That song was probably my favorite song released in 2010. The new album is fantastic but I still haven't really jumped into their back catalog yet.

Thanks man, I'll have to check that out.

Thanks to Lukinfan as well, for backing up the "diamond hand" as well. Shawn Smith is a great singer. I am so bummed I did not get to meet Brad in October. Hopefully they will do little side tours in between pj more. Not likely, but it would be cool.
