Been spinning a lot of these guys lately.
What a great band!
And they have reunited and have been doing some shows in Canada. \m/

Love Big Wreck! I had heard Ian and Brian had been playing some shows together. Was there a full band reunion? Would love to see these guys again. Also been looking for either record on vinyl for ages with no luck.
  • I have heard that Big Wreck have a new album coming out sometime early this year. I have not heard an official release date yet. Some radio stations here in Southern Ontario (namely 102.1 the Edge and 97.7 Htz FM) have been playing the first single, Albatross, quite a bit over the last month or so. The song has really grown on me and I can't stop listening to it. Here is a link to a version on Youtube if you want to hear it:

That being said, they are using the Big Wreck name but the only original members involved are Ian and Brian. Live shows over the past year or so have been billed as "An evening with Thornley and Big Wreck". It is basically Ian with his revolving door of friends that make up the Thornley band along with Brian as an additional guitarist. They play a solid set of Big Wreck and Thornley songs.

I can't wait for the new album. I have always felt that Big Wreck never got the attention or recognition that they deserve. Amazing band.

Awesome...thanks for posting that. If they tour and play Big Wreck tunes, that's good enough for me, man. Haven't heard those songs live in ages and I'd be all over it.

March 6...excellent. Hopefully distribution in the U.S. will be timely. I would've purchased the Albatross single, but it's still not on iTunes or Amazon here.
  • Here is an article you Big Wreck fans might be interested in from the Toronto Sun's website today. Interesting bit at the end about Ian being asked to try out for the lead singer job with Velvet Revolver but him turning the job down because their management didn't want him playing guitar in the band.

These guy are my favourite band outside of PJ, AIC and Soundgarden so I am totally stoked for the new album tomorrow. If you can't wait until tomorrow there is a compilation of song fragments on their youtube page here:

Just checked iTunes and it will be available here in the U.S. tomorrow as well. Really excited from those snippets on YouTube.

I just realized that I'm seeing Big Wreck tonight, and haven't yet listened to the new album! Stupid me. What are some good tracks to YouTube?
