Moving The Leather Man

Recent article states The Leather Man will be exhumed and moved from his resting spot.

This story is related to Eddie Vedder's enthusiasm about him,, I would be surprised if he doesn't know about this what's about to take place:

"Citing safety concerns, the society has filed a petition for permission to dig up and relocate the famed hobo’s body. “We’re responsible if someone’s hurt there,” says MacDonald.

The Ossining Historical Society would also like to find a “more dignified” spot for Sparta Cemetery’s most famous occupant and has gathered a nine-person team, to be led by Connecticut State Archaeologist Nicholas Bellantoni, to move and examine the body.

And, as long as the remains are being exhumed, MacDonald says the team would do a few genetic tests on the Leatherman’s remains.

That last idea has Don Johnson, a history teacher for North Haven Public Schools, outraged. Johnson, who has been fascinated by the Leatherman for the last decade or so, started leavetheleathermanalone.com to protest the genetic testing. He says he’s out to protect the Leatherman’s privacy."

Could be bad news for the song. Ed will maybe
have to change the lyric to "...who I am not related."
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win ."

"With our thoughts we make the world"
  • Theres alot more to the story here: http://leavetheleathermanalone.com/

I've emailed all the info on this through 'activism' about a month ago, but haven't heard anything back from anyone.

  • Why disturb the dead like that? I am against such a thing really. I wish they would leave him alone and let him rest in peace. It does not hurt to have a legend live on...must we answer ALL questions no matter what? I, for one, don't mind questions lingering and having a bit of a mystery concerning some things or people, like the Leather Man.
I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun.....
    I wanna race..with the sundown..I want a last breath..I don't let out...
