The Twitterverse was buzzing this morning with loads of users complaining that they couldn't log into the Bank of America accounts.
As of 10:40am EST, there hasn't been an official announcement by the company as to the problem, but some are speculating that it's "Anonymous," i.e. the gang of pro Wikileaks hackers launching a Denial of Service attack.
From Twitter:
"Wondering if Bank of America is getting DOS attacks from pro Wikileaks hackers "Anonymous" again? Whatever it is... needs to end. Now" - @DylanWest
Another Twitter user, @MissNitaT had the same experience, Tweeting, "so why is bofa effing up this morning. No alerts, not able to login?!? is it just me?"
A search of "BofA" on Twitter brings up a slew of other results from Twitter users complaining about the same thing.
There appears to be no official word from the company either.
Stay tuned for updates to this post as this story develops.
Updates:
10:53 am EST: One Twitter user wrote that a friend of his in New Hampshire is having no problems with the BofA website. Anyone outside of MA experiencing website log-in issues?
10:56 am EST: BofA acknowledges the outage and is responding to their customers via Twitter.
In an interview with The Sacramento Business Journal, BofA spokeswoman Tara Burke said the problems began for the bank’s website at 4 a.m. PST. Burke said some customers can’t log in to their accounts, while others face delays on BankofAmerica.com. “It’s sporadic,” Burke said. “The majority of our customers can still bank online.”

I have a visa card that is with my AAA account, and that may give you (possibly) the same access.

Thanks Hoff _ tried but got stuck. At least it opened the sign in page, which is more than I get with the usual link.
Stopped by an ATM and at least could confirm that my check was deposited into the correct accounts. Hopefully all of my auto bill pay will go through as usual... :?
Otherwise it will be a sad day at La Casa de Unlost Dogs.
you know my address...and last name!

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
i'll stick with my non local credit union. 270 miles to the nearest branch.
yeah...BOA is gonna start charging their 'free checking' members monthly fees if they don't have direct deposit, and something like the checks have to be at least $500...I'm going to a credit union after my unemployment runs out!

Credit unions are the best way to do banking. Banks charge an arm and a leg in fees, CUs don't!
Monday is a bank holiday, so hopefully they get this fixed soon!
I just now (5pm on Friday) logged into Bank Of America using this site, and paid my bills. I don't know if you need to have one of their visa cards to go to the site this way, but it worked fine for me.
