Dire Straits Censored After 25 Years

Taking the word in isolation, I can understand the offence to a gay person . But in the context of the song, is it offensive? I'm not sure?

    I agree on thw word being used in the context of idiocy here. However stations are required to censor songs if they play them on the radio. A disc Jockey can say "Damn or Ass" while talking on air, but nothing too explicit. Greenday's song, "American Idiot", uses the same word, but they censored it in the song. As far as banning the song on the airwaves completely, that was up to the station.Regardless to the term offensive- that depends soley on people's opinions, but to the general public the word used in idiocy or not is still deemed offensive. The station has to censor it by laws to comply with the Radio Act.

    I was always curious why this song wasn't censored when it first came out.

    Kind of silly to do this now.
