Ijust saw a show on PBS called AMerican Masters that was about Jeff Bridges. it was really good, check it out if its playing in your area.

I always liked him and kinda thought he was an interesting fella in interviews and such, but I think he is one of those actors that just gets better and better (especially with age).

Crazy Heart was good, but True Grit was an A+
What else is he good in?

Quote from the show tonight (slight spoiler for true Grit):

"Rooster Cogburn is probably The Dudes great, great, great grandfather."

  • Check out "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" with Clint Eastwood. Its one of his earlier films but he steals the spotlight from Clint. "White Squall" is another good one.
  • He's in Iron Man, too!!

I was just about to post about this. That show is really good shit. Plus, I've been singing the praises of Bridges for too long now - the same way my friends give me the "uggggghhhh" look when I bring up one Edward Vedder. This dude - pun intended - has just skyrocketed to the top of the list of who I would like to be able to sit down and share a beer/left handed cigarette with. Loved the look into his life and who he is away from the screen.

    No homo.

Other recommendations off the top of my head - Fat City, Fisher King, Lebowski(of course), Starman, White Squall(yeah, what of it?), Fearless, Fabulous Baker Boys.

I think he was also in a weird movie called the Vanishing in the ealry 90's maybe. I think he was a creepy bad guy.

He's one talented dude from seeing that pbs show!

  • This was great! My wife half way through said, "seems like he'd be a guy that would be friends with Eddie."

Wow, can't believe someone mentioned Starman, haven't seen that one in forever, he was good in it too. I won't mention any other movies that were mentioned as they were all good.

I recognized his voice in Iron Man right away, he was incredible as the villain in that.

They did a good job on the new Tron movie making him look young (for his program role)

He was great in Arlington Road with Tim Robbins.. "You sick fuck.."

Blown Away with Tommy Lee Jones was decent.

Did the original sequel to King Kong that was remade again recently.

Oh and this might not make him family by any means but...

    My Grandmother's cousin's husband's sister married Lloyd Bridges. (I think that's right.)

First movie I ever saw Jeff Bridges in was Starman, what some 30 years ago. Been a big fan of his work ever since. True Grit was spectacular!

I know it's kind of cheesy, but I just saw it for the first time. Against All Odds. Bridges and James Woods are great in it, and the chick is hot. It's also the movie that the Phil Collins song of the same name was written for.

And let's also not forget that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city....that isn't legal either.

i also liked him in "the men who stare at goats." he was very dude-like in that.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
