These two songs are really promising. With most of the PJ solo work there was never really any element of surprise as to what was heard when the albums came out. That's not knocking anyone's work, it just seemed they weren't necessarily trying to expand musically, rather they just needed an outlet outside Pearl Jam to get some ideas off their minds and onto record.
But this... Stone really seems to be exploring something different and frankly I am excited by how well it seems to be coming along.
Stone comments at the end of the new video that, "it was fun to get lost in that." I definitely think these new tracks are conducive to that type of experience, enabling one to become taken into the songs. The instrumentation is a big part of this, but you need skilled players to make it happen, and it seems Stone has assembled a good group of people to do just that.
