Put your poetry away with your First Communion silhouette.
Ring the bell, wash your hands, kneel down and genuflect.
Hypocrisy bleeds like a post-war Christ.
Kiss the cross and save your soul tonight.
Desperate figures file through double doors, desperate to figure out,
answers to eternal questions they know absolutely nothing about.
Choose a Saint. Take their name.
You'll suffer with it just the same.
Choose a path. Walk it straight.
You'll end up at some righteous gate.
Blindfolded by the brightest halo,
Hallowed be thy name.
Take it off your eyes fall out, you struggle to retain,
The glorious disillusionment of Man and what he's done.
The anthem of humanity is the name of the father, not the son.

"what a long, strange trip it's been"
the anger in it, the emotion, the rhyme
loved the shorter lines especially.
very cool
