Trent Reznor to score US version of Girl with Dragon Tattoo

Wasn't sure where to put it, but he announced it Friday night at an interview in NYC at the NY Times Arts and Leisure festival (which I attended) - I loved the original version of this movie, and wasn't looking forward to the US version, but now I'll have to keep an open mind, and do look forward to the music.

It was a pretty cool interview - he was interviewed by Jon Pareles from the NY Times and they showed 2 version of a scene from The Social Network, once with an Elvis Costello song, and then with the music that Reznor wrote, to illustrate what effect the difference in music has on your perception of the action in the movie. I expect if you search around you can find it to watch....

I feel the same way, the Swedish originals of these movies just threw me away. Read the books first, and the subtitles were barely necessary, the acting was so good...

But the US version now promises a great score.

I just watched the Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and I thought it was terrible. It deviated way too much from the book and it didn't seem to flow very well. I'll probably see the US version but I'm not expecting much.

I have really been meaning to watch this, have to go get it I think. Certainly think it makes the American version look more appealing, Trent Reznor is amazing. Saw NIne Inch Nails a couple of years ago and thought Trent had a phenomenal voice and music was awesome. I wonder if Charlie Clouser will be helping too??

I don't think so. Atticus Ross, his close associate, is co-writer for The Social Network score, and I think Ross will work with him on this too.
