I already asked how to have music on my iPod and not in my PC, and it worked out great, but know I figured out that once the music is on my iPod and I erase it from my PC, I can only listen to it! So, what do I do if I want to burn a disc or copy the music to give to a friend? I can't do it?

You can either find a program online or purchase a program that does a reverse sync, or turn on your hidden files/folders option if you use windows, and copy the folder back to your computer that way, but you lose the naming of the files.....
  • Nope. With the traditional iPod software you can not move your music from your iPod back to your PC. With older versions you could but that led to people swapping songs across iPods and I guess Apple was worried Lars would come knocking on them like he did to Napster. But I digress.

The easiest way, I find, to manage space concerns, which is why I think you're deleting from your pc, is to buy an external hard drive and just run your iTunes off of that. I have a 250g external with about 60g of space left. I swap out what's on my actual iPod all the time.

There's a great site, http://www.ilounge.com, with decent help and forums. Lots of add-ons, too, so you might be able to find a program to reverse your iPod. :) Hope that helps!
    Why go home?
  • yea can find programs out there online that allow you to plug in any ipod and take the songs off them and put them in itunes. i had this same problem when my comp got erased and i lost all my music. you can search on version tracker, dowload.com, or google. you should b able to come up with something.

i suggest not using an ipod, it's sucks with all the copyright bull on it. I use a Creative Labs Zen and it's basically like an external hard drive/mp3 player. I like it because it allows you drag and drop files on and off of it without needing extra programs like itunes.

I have been using a program called ipod2pc and it has saved me..

with currently just under 6,000 songs on my ipod, i've had to reload my songs up several times due to reformatting hard drive because of maleware and whatnot.

Heres the website to purchase from:
    http://www.casicakes.com/

    It works well for me

  • i used senuti to take all the songs on my ipod and copy them to my new computer. it works really well. just look up "senuti" in google and you will find it.

if that doesnt work, there is another program called "idump"
