Good New Zealand bars?

Scottish lass heading for New Zealand at the end of the month to tour the South Island and then onto Sydney......any recommendations for good bars?

    My hubby and I stopped at this little bar in Christchurch for the PJ pre-party, I 'm pretty sure the place was called Al's Bar. Was really quite cute and there was this reeeeeally good band there. This chick with really long dreadlocks sang all these Tool songs.
