You've never seen
Too bad cable edits it so much that it's not even close to what it was intended.
Every time I see it on cable, it says Rated R so I figure its finally an unedited version. NO.
Thank goodness I've gotten to see the "real" one a few times.

its going to sound really stupid when i tell you what its about
but i guess that's what's so great about it
The Big Lebowski is about Jeffrey Lebowski, AKA The Dude
a hippie type, unemployed, candle-lighting, pot-smoking, "caucasian" drinking slacker
who has the occasional flashback, (my kinda guy! heheee)
and some off the wall
beer drinking, bowling alley, friends
The kind of guy who gets wasted and shops in his bathrobe
He loves his apartment, and most of all, relaxing in it
ANYWAY
This group of dudes, calling themselves nihilists (sp), who believe in nothing
come in looking for Mr. Lebowski
all the while ignoring The Dudes' protests against being "MR." Lebowski, but rather "Jeffrey Lebowski"
aka The Dude, El Duderino, etc.
These nihilists have been sent to recover a lot of money they believe is owed their bosses by The Dude,
not so much a case of mistaken identity, as, rather, one of 2 guys with the same name
I guess its safe to say, that there is some mix up in who's after who for what
but right from the beginning, these nihilist dudes pee on The Dude's rug as a warning of what's t come
The Dude then begins his quest to have his beloved rug replaced, de-soiled
and that's just the very beginning of the awesomest movie you'll ever ever ever see
hands down!
DON'T DON'T DON'T ...whatever you do,
DON'T attempt to watch a cable version
or any edited version of this movie, and expect to get the full effect
It won't even come close
The first time you see it, has to be unedited
Rent it, watch it on Netfix, etc.
Don't rely on regular cable to supply you with the unedited version, even though it might say it is rated R
