From what I've read, the album is done. They're probably mastering it now. No word on when (or how) it will be released...but I'm sure it will be awesome.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

  • In a mid-2009 NME interview, Yorke suggested that Radiohead would turn their focus from full length albums to releasing EPs, including the possibility of an EP of orchestral music.[73] In December that year, O'Brien stated on Radiohead's website that the band would begin work on their next album in January, "The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last summer...10 years ago we were all collectively (that’s the band) in the land of Kid A... and although hugely proud of that record, it wasn’t a fun place to be...What's reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band, which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game."[74] In an interview with BBC 6 Music in June 2010, Ed O'Brien made similar comments, that Radiohead were "in the heart of [recording] now". O'Brien also said the band hoped to be able to release the record by the end of the year.[75] In September 2010, Colin Greenwood mentioned that they had just finished a new set of songs and "have begun to wonder about how to release them in a digital landscape that has changed again".[54] Phil Selway added later that month that the band will "take stock" of the new material and said that it is all "up in the air".[76]

Yeah, they're known for being perfectionists in the studio, which drives them all crazy.

The process of recording never seems to be pleasant for them.
  • They will never top Kid A.

Hail to the Thief was close but no sitar.

Ok Comp, The Bends, AND Hail to the Thief are all better than Kid A....OkC and The Bends are untouchable and it comes down to Wolf at the Door vs How to Disappear for the other 2.

In a fairly recenet interview I read they said they had the album done, then reconvened to start talkin release and as they were listenin back they weren't entirely happy with it. I'm pretty sure they'll have it out in 2011 some time. Doubt they sit on it too long once it's done.

Well it's all a matter of opinion. The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A and Hail to the Thief are the very best though. Even Radiohead admits Pablo Honey is not the greatest. Amnesiac and In Rainbows are both good but don't match up to the aforementioned first 4.

While Bends and OK are both incredible albums I don't feel they match up to the groundbreaking brilliance of Kid A. But, shit, this is Radiohead we're talking about here. Radiohead. Arguing about their albums is like shooting a fish in a barrel. There's really no point.
  • Even though In Rainbows wasn't their best album, I still love it and cannot wait for the new one.

im sure it will be awesome

I agree, although in Rainbows is not considered "their best," I still love the direction they're heading and I can't wait for whatever they release next.

Can't wait for the new album, however really wishing they would tour again. Only seen them once in boston a few years back but it was front row dead center. Epic Night.

    I agree - can't wait!

I like to say Kid A is the best, but with an objective listen it's really hard to argue against OK Computer. Probably a sentamental thing that Kid A was their first album that really hit me as a masterpiece. I was playing it really loud in my last house, which was a twin, and the neighbor heard it through the walls. Later he said he enjoyed listening to Kid A. :D:lol: I also love the way all the Kid A songs are totally different live.

For those not in the UK the NME is not a very reliable source for Radiohead news, they get most of it from the internet long after many (even casual) fans already know. There was even an instance of someone posting some fake news about them that ended up being reproduced in the NME as fact.

That quote about them releasing EPs has been repeated many times and to a small degree they have done a couple of things like that (Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses, These Are My Twisted Words, etc) but i'd be very surprised if a new album isn't out sometime this year in a physical format. They've already previewed many promising new songs live - Lotus Flower, Present Tense, The Daily Mail, Give Up The Ghost, to name just a few.

I've seen them a couple of times live, and each time I've assumed that their newer material wouldn't work so well live. How wrong I was! Pyramid Song is still one of the best tracks ever written.
