It's a drive. Best bet to rent a car. It is not a quick jaunt, but do-able. The tough part is driving back after waiting in the parking lot. This is a popular venue for DMB, Jimmy Buffet, ect and many people make the drive from Chicago and surrounding areas. Most people just drive.

Party bus is definitely the way to go if going to Alpine from Chicago. I've done it many times. Don't have to worry about driving and getting out of that nightmare of a parking lot.0 -

Well, I am definitely going if it is at Alpine Valley. Like everyone else, if the announcement is not as expected then I will have to determine if the travel arrangements make it feasible.
I just feel the need to chime in on driving from Chicago to APV since it comes up a lot. I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago so I am used to driving to get anywhere. I think that public transportation is only a viable option for downtown Chicago and the surrounding neiborhoods. Outside of the city, the public transportion is not that good.
But Chicagoans think of APV as a Chicago-land concert venue. It is really popular place to see a show and most people make the drive, car pool or go the party bus route.Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see0 -

I just opened a Reader's Digest and in one of the quotes sections is this: "If all the cars in the United States were placed end to end, it would probably be Labor Day Weekend"--Doug Larson.

Unbelievable.
I get 1100 euros from Rome and 827 from Athens (via Rome) for that period with Alitalia (1-6 sept).
It's cheaper for me with US Airways, via Philadelphia.
