is there a way to have music on my iPod but not on my computer?

    Once it's on your iPod you can delete it off of your computer. It will remain on your iPod as long as you want it there. When you sync though it won't of course find the song path, but it will not delete them from the iPod unless you delete it out of your music library.

    yeah, just turn the synching function to "manual"
