Oh how awful _ I misread it at first and thought it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit _ then saw it's Celsius and that's actually boiling water.

    That poor child...

Jesus, that is like falling into a boiling pot of water on the stove.....
Poor thing, that would have been immensely painful...

How'd he get over that fence? The parents must feel terrible, they should have been watching but you can't keep an eye on your kids 100% of the time I guess... :(

Oh no, I haven't heard any speculation at all it's just more like how the fuk did it happen? YTF wasn't someone watching him, see him dangerously close to the edge etc? There are barriers all around the place down there. I don't know what actual spot it happened in but my 1st thought is he must have clambered over some barrier or been sitting on a barrier or something, but actually, sorry this is absolute speculation & how things get blown out of proportion so god knows.

No, I don't know the exact spot where this happened so I don't know that it's fenced off but most places in the public areas down there are so & yeah, like you say, you'd think you'd be thinking:

I wouldn't let go of my daughter's hand at all. I know he was 8 but that's still too young for him to be out of Mum and Dad's view hey? Oh well, guess we'll never know how it happened, not like the parents are going to admit fault I don't think.

I used to cross cover in a burn ICU and I can't think of anything more painful... thank God for medically induced comas...

I love, love, love animals, but for that bison the best and kindest option was to shoot him and end his suffering. I can't imagine the animal could have survived those injuries.

The animals do know. However, the ground is so unstable above some of those geothermic areas that living things wind up puncturing a thin layer of rock and fall into the boiling water beneath. There are booby traps everywhere in the backcountry of YSP. Don't fuck around with that shit if you go...

Yeah that's true. Probably in shock too. I know when I used to work in the Vet, we used to see dogs who had been put in the back of a ute and they had fallen out and scraped most of their hair and skin off. Alot of times it's the shock that's the worst for their little bodies with their blood pressure and temperature, their bodies go haywire.
NOTE TO PEOPLE OUT THERE! BE CAREFUL PUTTING DOGS IN THE BACK OF UTES!!!

What's a Ute? Is it like the back of a pickup truck? I go crazy when I see dogs traveling like that. :x :x :x

Agreed, it needed put down. I just can't believe it could outrun a griz with those melted legs. A griz can outrun a healthy horse over short distances. The griz probably had no food in its belly and no energy to chase something down.

Oh yeah, sorry Aussie jargen! Yeah, like a pick-up truck! My friend who works in one of the outback vets used to see it alot! Like nearly every couple of weeks. The dogs would either be burnt badly from the road or hung by the neck from their leash. Really sad.

I can remember cross covering there and helping one of the regular burn nurses with dressing changes. Took two of us an hour and a half, working through the arm holes in the plastic sheeting encasing the ICU bed. We had to wear visors or our faces would literally stick to the plastic.

Definitely not something for the easily nauseated...
