  • travis meeks would be cool.

Travis Meeks is the man, but he would need to use more hairspray to fit in.

  • sounds like they've got someone

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/gen ... inger.html

    they arnt saying who though.

Matt Sorum says "The guy we're liking now is a young guy, a very strong guy... a little bit heavier rock 'n' roll than we are,"

So... with this new info... any thoughts on who it could be?

Also it was stated that this unknown person has been in other known bands and that "He's a guy we've had our eye on, but the timing wasn't right."
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!

I'm looking to buy a single ticket to Ed's Sydney Opera House show, PM me if you've got a spare! I don't care where the seat is! :D
  • The guy's gotta be in a metal band. There's gotta be some youngsters on here familiar with the newer crop of metal bands that old metallers like me aren't familiar with, surely.
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.

no, he wouldn't, but it would be super cool if he did. the fact that they said it's someone we've "probably" heard of means to me that it's a relatively unknown, not someone like Patton. Maybe Ian Thornley got the job after all?
Patton would never do this. I would bet 1 million space bucks!
Ian Thornley wouldn't make sense. I heard he auditioned for them the first time around and the band said that "if they wanted Chris Cornell they would've called him."
  • you're right, he really wouldn't. I just want him to put out some f**king material once in a while. he's a very talented guy and gets pushed to the back of the pile at his record label, and it's too bad.

yes, he did audition for them. I never knew they specifically addressed him like that. that's pretty disrespectful.

Saw them live in St.Louis back on their first album. Pretty small venue. They covered "Negative Creep" and I am pretty sure I lost a great deal of my hearing that night.

Yeah, to this day it's the loudest show I've ever seen.

have you ever seen motorhead? loud doesn't due them justice lol. Not a fan if VR, thought they had potential but seemed like generic rock for the most part. slash is a great guitarist, but i think he needs to try and do something different.
  • mine was Ministry. I couldn't hear for a week after that show. No exaggeration. And of course I forgot my ear plugs. :?

Slash's Snakepit opening for ACDC took years off of my hearing

Black Label in a little bar had em ringin for 2 days

But I saw the Black Crowes last year and centered myself right between the 2 guitarist about 5 people deep and they were ringin something crazy and my head felt like it was about to explode for 3 days after. The ring wasn't just ringing, it was way beyond that.

Motorhead are LOUD. Ears were ringing for a few days afterwards!
  • I only got into VR because of Scott. I don't think they will find success but I hope they do. Seems odd to replace a lead singer in a super rock group to start with unless it's a big name singer.
  • Ithink I might be the only guy in the world who prefers Libertad to Contraband. I'm not holding my breath to find out who the new singer is.

Actually my friend, I am not a fan of Contraband, but I love Libertad. There's a reason why we get along. :)

I don't think you can replace a guy in a supergroup because it defeats the whole purpose. The appeal of Velvet Revolver was that it was Guns N Roses meets Stone Temple Pilots, just like Audioslave was Soundgarden meets Rage Against The Machine. The whole premise is ruined without Scott, even if they got a name value singer they should change the name. I'm glad Scott's gone though, he is where he has always belonged.

Corey Taylor from Slipknot is a decent possibilty according to himself!
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has hinted that he could be Velvet Revolver's new frontman.

Rumours had been circulating that he could fill the spot which has been vacant since vocalist Scott Weiland quit the supergroup in 2008.

When asked by Billboard.com, Taylor refused to confirm or deny the rumours. "To be continued!" he added revealing nothing more on the subject.

The band said they had found their new lead singer at the end of last year but they wouldn't reveal who it was.

Two candidates who auditioned included Scars On Broadway singer Frankie Perez and Spacehog frontman Royston Langdon.

Meanwhile, Taylor also revealed that he has written his first book 'The Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good', due for release in the US on July 12.

"It's about me basically saying they're not sins," he added. "They're things we're born with, things that we deal with and things that in the long run help us to be better people.

"So it's me kind of taking the piss out of the whole sin thing, but also balancing it with stories from growing up, from being on the road and how I handled these 'deadly sins' and hopefully came out on the other side as a better person."

How so? Taylor is an amazing vocalist with crazy modern rock range, he can do pop rock, hard rock, metal, screaming, ballads. If anything he seems like the perfect fit, plus you know he is actually relevant in the music world right now, which is more then you can say for the other 3 guys in the band.

taylor would be a good choice. i agree.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
  • I think he's talented, I just don't think he fits that band is all. Take Travis Meeks. He's fucking awesome, but I'm glad he didn't get picked the first go round. He would have sucked as their lead.
