One of the most amazing artists out there today I can't think of anyone more deserving right now.

Looks like it's gonna be on March 4th

Rolling Stone posted this reaction from Tom Waits:

"I am still recovering," he said in a statement. "I never really cared about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...but now I am surprised to discover how much I DO care. I'm wondering if I did something wrong?" Waits exclusively tells Rolling Stone that his thoughts turned to his mother, who died this year, when he got the call. "I wish she was alive to hear the news," he says. "She didn't respond to rock and roll per se, but she would have loved to have a reason to get all dolled up...and...the idea of having a Waldorf salad AT the Waldorf Astoria, would for her have been the cat's pajamas. Actually, my mom made a pretty mean Waldorf herself!"

    The Cat's Pajamas.

Who uses lines like that in conversation anymore? Tom's great.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

I was lucky enough to attend a TW gig in Amsterdam in 2004 and the man really is quite extraordinary. He keeps managing to re-invent himself to keep with the times yet at the same time sounds like something from a bygone era. His use of instruments and objects is fascinating and he has a language all of his own that is very fun to read or listen to. Hope he is with us a very long time yet and the honours continue as they are long overdue regardless of what they might mean to him or his fans.

I'm so happy for him. Next year's inductees are a good bunch: Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Dr. John and Darlene Love.

    Great News!!!

I'm a HUGE fan of Tom Waits and this recognition is long deserved.

    I wonder if he'll perfom...I wonder who'll induct him.
