You old out of touch fuck. You are a bigger flip flopper than Bush and Kerry combined. This guy is one of the reasons why I hate most politicians. I might dislike him more than Pelosi. Any chance they both can go away? The country would be much better off.

....and 2004 for me. His speech concerning the South Carolina Primary in 2000 was pretty good. Of course, I think the main reason I liked (I use that word very loosely) him was because he was violently opposed to W as president. At least McCain actually fought in a war. Unlike Bush and Cheney who did everything they could to not go to Vietnam (but then send thousands to their death so they can profit)

I do wonder what kind of president he would have been - the good, the bad, the ugly.

And, what's so bad about a 3rd party?

look at what he is today. i doubt that had he been president he would have been as "mavericky" as his prior record had shown. in 2007 he made a dramatic shift to the right in order to insure receiving the nomination. look at him now, he is the same typical republican politician as all the rest of them...

There is no one I absolutely disdain more than McCain (rhyme not intended). How the hell that idiot got the nod in '08 still perplexes me. People can be as left or right as they want to be, and I'm cool with that. I'll respect their point of view, but there's very few things I hate worse than someone who is whatever he has to be at the time in order to get something, and that's exactly what this guy is. Unfortunately there's a lot of people like that right now.

I'm not a fan of McCain at all,.. but I'm failing to see the big issue here.

He's saying what a lot of people are already saying,... give me a third choice,.. because 2 is not working for me right now.

Sorry... but, i'm confused (again) about what point you are trying to make, here. From the article you referenced:
"Stop the spending, keep the taxes low, end the corruption, have some fiscal discipline, and start making some tough decisions about this debt that we have laid on every man, woman and child in America," he said.

McCain says he thinks the tax extenders bill will pass, but adds, "The Tea Partiers and the majority of Americans will justifiably feel betrayed" if Congress adds an omnibus appropriations bill, instead of keeping a clean bill.
    ...
Is he wrong here? Shouldn't a Third party rise... if the two existing parties do nothing but business as usual for the past 50 years?

John McCain changes his mind more than his underwear.

John McCain is the EXACT reason why the TEA Party was sick of most Republicans, he is the poster child for what is wrong with the GOP.

Wait. So, changing your mind is a bad thing? I've changed my mind and opinions on things when factual data showed me that my previous stand was incorrect. Should I have kept the same opinion... even when there was proof that showed otherwise? What about the way I jump from party to party... voting for the candidate I believe in, rather than the party they belong to... should i just stick to one party? And i backed President Bush in the days and weeks after September 11, 2001. Should I have continued to support him, even when I felt he was fucking up, big time?
    ...
Regarding McCain... i still don't see the point you are trying to make here. He is saying that unless there is a change in the way that Congress is run... the people will back a third political party because they don't have faith and trust in the two existing parties.
Is the tea party a Third Party... or what i suspect it to be... the militant right wing of the Republican Party? Does the Tea Party want to purge McCain out of the G.O.P. or do they want to start a political revolution by creating a third party?
It mean... do you think we should not change our minds and stick with whatever party we have been sticking to since we were 18 years old?

He changes his mind to whatever it takes to get elected. He doesn't stand for anything.

A 3rd party rise would be the best thing to happen to this country.

Can you name a politician that doesn't say whatever it takes to get elected? That describes about... oh.. 100% of the politicians seated in Washington today. How many Republicans are courting the Tea Party votes? My guess, the ones up for re-election in 2012.
    ...
Anyway... I think McCain is absolutely right on this one. Unless the Congress can quit acting like fucking stubborn babies, then the people will vote them out and replace them with true independents.
Where the Tea Party fails... it aims to replace seated Democrats or Republicans with Republicans... not Independents. I was interested in the Tea Party in the beginning... when it was more Libertarian. Now... it has been taken over by FOX News and it Republican Master and i want no part of that herpes laced clusterfuck.

    Well said.

I've lived in AZ now for a little over 4 years. It's unreal how people love this guy here.
I'm pretty sure the guy could take a shit on the flag, tell everyone to fuck off, kick a puppy, knock over an old lady, commit murder, rob, steal, kick another puppy...and he'd still landslide the next senatorial election. :?
