Its neither empowerment or conformity. Its commerce. Women who need money and can't earn it another way sell something that *some* men are willing to pay for.

Well, i did a bit of a social experiment. My girlfriend always says I'm the most attractive guy she's ever seen. (dont they all say that.. ;) )
Well, Itried to do a strip tease for her tonight, and I'm guessing you all know how THAT went!? I was neitehr empowered or proud of myself... and the money was really not worth it.

    :D:D

I feel that there are many facets to the whole selling-a-nude-dance-activity that make it less than positive for the women.

Most importantly, they are becoming objects and focusing their own attention on their external bodies rather than on how they feel inside.

Secondly, they are placing themselves in a spiritually vulnerable position that can hurt them the longer they stay in it.

Thirdly, they may be looked down upon by other people for their chosen profession which also probably hurts them when they aren't even at work.

There are more things to consider, but I think these three are enough to say that I don't really think they are empowering themselves when they sell their bodies to people that don't love them like this. :|

I used to have a roomate that was a stripper/working girl. She started stripping for the money then got hooked in speed then started turning tricks for the money to buy the speed and got totally dependant on it just to get her through each job. It was sad to watch. She was a full on exhibitionist who loved the attention but she had some serious daddy issues.
However I met some of the girls she worked with who did the job to further themselves. One girl bought a house in cash at the age of 23, then stopped. Unfortunately she was definitely not the norm. Most of the money that these girls make goes straight in a pipe or up their nose just so they can perform.

Couldn't have worded it any better. I know too many of these ladies.
