Of the 'Hype machine' shows which came closer to living up to it?

I'm obviously talking about MSG I & II, and Mansfield I & II. I will start by saying that I was at both MSG shows, and I thought they were both spectacular, but I'm going to try and be unbiased as humanly possible here...

Let's start with the length of the shows:

MSG I we got 30 songs
MSG II we got 29 songs

Mansfield I you got 26 songs
Mansfield II you got 26 songs

So we got 7 more total songs, so let's say an extra 28-35 minutes of material. I'm not talking about QUALITY here just QUANTITY.

So the edge goes to MSG

Let's talk about openers:

MSG I we got 'Hard to Imagine'
MSG II we got 'Release'

Mansfield I you got 'Hard to Imagine'
Mansfield II you got 'Wash'

I'd say this one is a tie.

Let's talk about 'rarities':

MSG I we got Hard to imagine, All night, Faithfull, Down, Who you are, Present tense, Love reign o'er me, W.M.A., Leash, Spin the black circle, I believe in miracles, All along the watchtower, & Indifference

MSG II we got Release, All night, Cropduster, Garden, I'm open, Who you are, Rats, Inside job, W.M.A., Lukin, I believe in miracles, Black diamond

Mansfield I you got Hard to imagine, Hail, hail, Low light, Faithfull, Off he goes, Down, I'm open, I got shit, Love reign o'er me, Come back,

Mansfield II you got Wash, Last exit, MFC, Education, Satan's bed, Whipping, Glorified G, Bee girl, Garden, Footsteps

I'd say this is pretty close, all 4 shows got some great 'rarities'

Let's talk about first Encores

MSG I we got Love reign o'er me, W.M.A., Leash, Spin the black circle, Wasted reprise, and Porch
MSG II we got Inside Job, W.M.A., Lukin, I believe in miracles, Better man(save it for later), RVM

Mansfield I you got Love reign o'er me, Come back, Insignificance, Black, Better man(save it for later)
Mansfield II you got Bee girl, Who you are, Better man(save it for later), Garden, Why go

I'd have to say the edge goes to MSG, that first night's encore was just SICK as far as energy levels go. The place just erupted.

Now how about closers

MSG I we got Indifference
MSG II we got Yellow Ledbetter/Star spangled banner

Mansfield I you got Alive
Mansfield II you got Rockin in the free world

All great closers, kind of up for grabs on this one

What do you guys think?

Does it really matter in the grand sceam of things??? I was @ MSG 1&2, Hartford and Mansfield 1&2 and Hartford was probablly my favorite. I swaer some people on this board are so obsessed with the shows that they went to being "better", it's almost like a bunch of grade schoolers, "mines better, no mine is better than yours."

Get over it already, I thought all the shows that I went to were good in their own ways, just go and have a good time and don't worry about what show was better or what show you thought was not as good even though you may not have even been there.

    MSG I

Definitely a close race, but the show length, song selection... but most importantly crowd and band energy was unlike any other show I've been to.

Can we classify Release as a rarity? It's one of the main openers.

But it didn't have DTE into Go which was my favorite PJ moment I have witnessed. Especially since Go is becoming somewhat rare these days and I always love hearing it.

I thought the stage was going to collapse at that point!

I had to call out of work with an upper-respiratory infection and a fever of 102 so um...yeah...how'd you know?

    Not on this tour.

I think it also has alot to do with the energy and sound that the band gives off.
