so the Dead are releasing another boxed set...

of 3 shows at the Fillmore, 1973. its the complete set of 3 back-to-back-to-back shows.

my question is:

why can we not get an archival release program going like the Dead have? they release a number of shows every year. there is way too much good live PJ sitting in the vaults to not be heard...plus it would make the band money, which they like.

    I agree, I was hoping for more shows to come out of "the vault" but we only got one. hopefully we'll get to hear many of the classic PJ shows in the future.

    just wanted to say that i ordered the new dead box set. Can't wait to get it. :)

    The shows from the vault will probably come out when the band is no longer able to tour or towards the end of their career. So when they're 70 they will still have income coming in, and be able to afford the nice nursing home.
    Let's see those 2013 dates in the southern states.

    I think the boys used as a way to keep everyone at GDP employed although I think the first FTV's came out when they were still playing.

    I'd like to see more from the video vault - I believe Bill's kid Justin had a company that pro-shot the majority of shows from '89 on. They've released a couple (Alpine) but man there are so many shows that I went to that I'd love to get a chance to see again (or in some cases for the first time!

    BTW, I'm still waiting for PJ to cover a Dead song. Probably never going to happen but it would be pretty cool.

    Saturday Night could fit into the setlist nicely.

    exactly. The vault is the gift that keeps on giving (to the band, anyway).
